Note: Suburban furnaces after January 1990, have nine digits. The first 2 digits are the manufactured year. The next digits indicate the week of the year, and the remaining digits are serial numbers. Start with the year to determine whether your serial number is above or below, for example; a serial number beginning with 98 is going to be a lower serial number than one beginning with 01.

How The Sail Switch Works:
The sail switch works by sensing the airflow. If there is an insufficient amount, the switch will prevent the furnace from igniting and the fan will be running but you will get no heat. It typically operates through the use of a paddle that gets displaced due to the force of fluid moving past it.
