The ThermaCell Outdoor Patio Lantern keeps mosquitoes, black flies and other flying insects away, covering a 15 foot radius. This lantern is 98% effective, applicable as a light and as a bug repellent. Both features can work independently of each other. This lantern does not contain DEET or wax, nor does it have an open flame. It does not carry a strong odor and is easily portable. It is perfect for camping trips, barbeques and outdoor entertaining. This patio lantern uses LED lights with a high or low setting. Comes with butane cartridge that can last 12 hours and 2 repellent mats that last 4 hours each. The butane cartridge warms up the repellent mat so it gives off allethrin, which is an artificial repellent similar to the natural repellent given off by pyrethrum flowers. Lantern runs on 4 AA batteries.
