Haven't used it yet but from my research there shouldn't be a concern about it. I selected this over the Surge Guard due to the fact it comes with a life time warranty. We all have extension cords so I am connecting it in line between the regular cord and then extension cord therefore the unit is secure in the compartment and out of the weather. I saw this tip on a message board and made sense to me. I had a 30 amp surge guard unit for my last RV that went bad in the rain. It was during the short warranty period so it was replaced but still I had to send it back and wait for it.

I feel much safer with this protecting my rig. Exactly as advertised and works great.
