Home EasyTouch Thermostats WiFi & Bluetooth Setup Guide

Quick Fixes for Common Problems

  • WiFi won't connect? Make sure you're using a 2.4GHz network, not 5GHz
  • Network not showing up? Try typing the SSID manually (check for special characters)
  • Bluetooth intermittent? Close the app completely and reopen it
  • Nothing working? Try a factory reset — it solves most issues

📋 Before You Start

Before attempting to connect your EasyTouch thermostat, make sure you have the following ready:

What You'll Need

  • Smartphone or tablet — iPhone (iOS 12+) or Android (8.0+)
  • EasyTouch app installed — Free download from App Store or Google Play
  • WiFi network name (SSID) and password — Write these down exactly as they appear
  • Bluetooth enabled on your phone
⚠️

Important: 2.4GHz WiFi Only

EasyTouch thermostats only connect to 2.4GHz WiFi networks. They cannot connect to 5GHz networks. Most routers broadcast both—make sure you're connecting to the 2.4GHz band (often labeled with "2.4" or "2G" in the network name).

Understanding Bluetooth vs. WiFi

Your EasyTouch uses both Bluetooth and WiFi, but they serve different purposes:

  • Bluetooth: Used for initial setup and local control when you're inside or near your RV (within ~30 feet). Always works, even without internet.
  • WiFi: Enables remote access from anywhere in the world, temperature alerts, and cloud features. Requires internet connection.

You must connect via Bluetooth first before you can configure WiFi settings.

📶 Bluetooth Pairing

Bluetooth pairing is the first step to connecting your EasyTouch. This creates a direct link between your phone and the thermostat.

1 Enable Bluetooth on Your Phone

Go to your phone's Settings > Bluetooth and make sure it's turned ON. Stay on this screen or keep Bluetooth settings open.

2 Open the EasyTouch App

Launch the Micro-Air EasyTouch app. If this is your first time, you may need to create an account or sign in.

3 Tap "Add Device" or the + Icon

The app will begin scanning for nearby EasyTouch thermostats. Make sure you're within 30 feet of the thermostat.

4 Select Your Thermostat

Your thermostat should appear in the list (it may show as "EasyTouch" followed by numbers). Tap it to begin pairing.

5 Confirm the Pairing Code

A pairing code will appear on both your phone and the thermostat screen. Verify they match and tap "Pair" or "Confirm" on both devices.

💡

Thermostat Not Appearing?

Try these fixes: (1) Make sure you're within 30 feet of the thermostat. (2) Close the app completely and reopen it. (3) Toggle Bluetooth off and on. (4) On the thermostat, go to Settings > Bluetooth and ensure it's enabled.

📡 WiFi Connection

After Bluetooth pairing is complete, you can configure WiFi for remote access. This step is optional if you only want local control.

1 Open WiFi Settings in the App

In the EasyTouch app, go to your thermostat's settings (gear icon) and select "WiFi Setup" or "Network Settings."

2 Scan for Networks

Tap "Scan" to search for available WiFi networks. Only 2.4GHz networks will appear.

3 Select Your Network

Tap your WiFi network name (SSID) from the list. If it doesn't appear, see "Network Not Showing" below.

4 Enter Your WiFi Password

Type your WiFi password exactly as it is—passwords are case-sensitive. Double-check for typos before submitting.

5 Wait for Connection

The thermostat will attempt to connect. This can take 30-60 seconds. A WiFi icon will appear on the thermostat display when successful.

⚠️

Network Not Showing Up?

If your network doesn't appear in the scan: (1) Verify it's a 2.4GHz network. (2) Move closer to your router. (3) Try entering the SSID manually—tap "Manual Entry" or "Other Network" and type your network name exactly. (4) If your SSID has special characters like apostrophes or ampersands, try renaming it on your router to use only letters, numbers, and simple dashes.

WiFi Networks with Special Characters

Several customers have reported that WiFi network names containing special characters can cause connection failures. If your SSID includes any of the following, consider renaming it:

  • Apostrophes ( ' )
  • Quotes ( " )
  • Ampersands ( & )
  • Backslashes ( \ )
  • Unusual symbols or emojis

Renaming your network to something simple like "MyRV-WiFi" often resolves stubborn connection issues.

📱 App Configuration

Once connected, take a few minutes to configure the app settings for the best experience.

Enable Notifications

The app can alert you if temperatures go too high or too low—essential for protecting your RV and pets. Go to Settings > Notifications and enable:

  • High Temperature Alert — Set your maximum safe temperature (e.g., 85°F)
  • Low Temperature Alert — Set your minimum safe temperature (e.g., 45°F)
  • Connection Lost Alert — Notifies you if the thermostat loses WiFi

Multiple Users

To allow a spouse or travel partner to control the thermostat from their phone:

  1. Have them download the EasyTouch app
  2. They should create their own account
  3. Use the "Share Device" feature in your app settings to invite them
  4. They accept the invitation in their app
ℹ️

Both Users Need WiFi for Remote Access

For two people to control the thermostat remotely (when away from the RV), the thermostat must be connected to WiFi. If only using Bluetooth, both users must be physically near the thermostat.

🌍 Understanding Remote Access

One of the biggest benefits of EasyTouch is controlling your RV climate from anywhere. Here's how it works:

Local Control (Bluetooth)

  • Works within ~30 feet of the thermostat
  • No internet required
  • Always available as a backup
  • Fastest response time

Remote Control (WiFi)

  • Works from anywhere in the world
  • Requires the thermostat to have internet access
  • Enables temperature alerts and notifications
  • Requires your RV to be connected to WiFi
💡

WiFi Options for Your RV

For remote access when parked at home or storage, you need internet in your RV. Options include: (1) Run an ethernet cable or WiFi extender to your RV. (2) Use a mobile hotspot from your phone or dedicated hotspot device. (3) Install a cellular router in your RV. (4) Use campground WiFi when available.

Testing Remote Access

To verify remote access is working:

  1. Connect the thermostat to WiFi (see Section 3)
  2. Walk away from your RV until you're out of Bluetooth range (more than 100 feet)
  3. Make sure your phone is NOT connected to the same WiFi as the thermostat (use cellular data)
  4. Open the app and try adjusting the temperature
  5. If it works, remote access is properly configured!

🔧 Troubleshooting Common Issues

Problem Solution
Bluetooth is intermittent or keeps disconnecting RVs have many electronics that can cause interference. Try: (1) Close other Bluetooth-connected apps. (2) Forget the device in your phone's Bluetooth settings and re-pair. (3) Keep your phone within 20 feet during use. (4) Perform a factory reset on the thermostat if issues persist.
WiFi shows connected but remote access doesn't work The thermostat may be connected to WiFi but not reaching the internet. Check that your WiFi has active internet access. Some campground WiFi networks block certain traffic—try a mobile hotspot instead.
WiFi password is rejected even though it's correct Some special characters in passwords cause issues. Try: (1) Temporarily change your WiFi password to something simple (letters and numbers only). (2) Connect the thermostat. (3) Change your password back if desired.
App says "Device Offline" The thermostat lost WiFi connection. This happens when you move locations or WiFi goes down. Use Bluetooth to reconnect when you're near the thermostat, then reconfigure WiFi if needed.
Thermostat doesn't show in Bluetooth scan On the thermostat itself, go to Settings > Bluetooth and verify it's enabled. Try power cycling the thermostat by turning it off and on at the breaker. Make sure your phone's Bluetooth is on and you're within range.
App crashes or freezes Force close the app completely (don't just minimize it). Check for app updates in the App Store or Google Play. If problems continue, uninstall and reinstall the app.
Changes in app don't appear on thermostat Give it 10-15 seconds—there can be a delay, especially over WiFi. Pull down to refresh in the app. If still not syncing, close the app and reopen to force a reconnection.
Heater or AC not responding to thermostat This is typically a wiring or compatibility issue, not WiFi. Contact Micro-Air support—they've resolved many issues with a quick phone call and often just need to walk you through a factory reset.

⚙️ Common Settings & Adjustments

Change Temperature Units (Celsius to Fahrenheit)

On the thermostat: Tap Settings (gear icon) > Display Settings > Temperature Units > select Fahrenheit or Celsius.

In the app: Tap the menu icon > Settings > Units > select your preference.

Note: The thermostat and app have independent settings, so you may need to change both.

Adjust Screen Brightness

On the thermostat, go to Settings > Display Settings > Brightness. You can also enable "Auto Dim" to reduce brightness at night.

Set Up Scheduling

EasyTouch can automatically adjust temperatures based on time of day. In the app, go to your thermostat > Schedule. You can set different temperatures for morning, day, evening, and night.

Dead Band / Temperature Swing

This setting controls how much the temperature can vary before the AC or heater kicks in. A smaller dead band means tighter temperature control but more frequent cycling. Find this under Settings > Advanced Settings > Dead Band.

Fan Mode

Choose between:

  • Auto: Fan runs only when heating or cooling
  • On: Fan runs continuously for air circulation
  • Circulate: Fan runs periodically even when not heating/cooling

🔄 Factory Reset

A factory reset clears all settings and often resolves persistent issues. Micro-Air support frequently recommends this as a first troubleshooting step.

⚠️

Before You Reset

A factory reset will erase: WiFi credentials, Bluetooth pairings, custom schedules, temperature preferences, and all other settings. You'll need to set everything up again after the reset.

How to Factory Reset

  1. On the thermostat touchscreen, tap the Settings (gear) icon
  2. Scroll down and tap Advanced Settings
  3. Tap Factory Reset
  4. Confirm when prompted
  5. The thermostat will restart with default settings
  6. Follow the initial setup process and re-pair Bluetooth/WiFi
💡

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the app show different temperature than the thermostat?
There can be a brief delay in syncing, especially over WiFi. Pull down to refresh the app. Also verify both devices are set to the same temperature units (Fahrenheit vs Celsius).
Can two people control the thermostat from different phones?
Yes! Use the "Share Device" feature in the app to invite another user. They'll need their own EasyTouch app account. Both users can then control the thermostat, though for remote access the thermostat must be connected to WiFi.
Does the WiFi connection drain my RV battery?
The WiFi module uses very minimal power—comparable to leaving an LED light on. It won't significantly impact your battery, even when dry camping for extended periods.
What happens if WiFi disconnects while I'm away?
The thermostat continues operating normally using its last settings—it doesn't need WiFi to control your AC and heater. You just won't have remote access until WiFi is restored. If you enabled the "Connection Lost" alert, you'll receive a notification.
Can I connect to campground WiFi that requires a login page?
Unfortunately, no. The EasyTouch cannot navigate captive portal login pages. For campground use, your best option is a mobile hotspot from your phone or a dedicated cellular device.
Is there a way to see temperature history?
Yes, the app includes a temperature log showing historical readings. Go to your thermostat in the app and look for "History" or "Temperature Log" to view past data.
