Portable vs hardwired. Which should I buy?
Portable plugs into the pedestal before your RV cord does, so it is easy to move between rigs. Hardwired is installed permanently inside the RV compartment so it is always protected and out of sight. Hardwired also eliminates any theft risk at the pedestal.
What does Auto Shutoff (EPO) actually do?
EPO stands for Emergency Power Off. If the unit detects dangerous voltage, wiring faults, or miswiring at the pedestal, it cuts power to your RV immediately instead of just logging it. Models without EPO monitor and alert but do not disconnect automatically.
Do I need WiFi monitoring or is Bluetooth enough?
Bluetooth works well when you are near your RV, typically within 30 to 50 feet. WiFi lets you monitor and receive alerts from anywhere on your phone, which is handy when you are in a campground building or away from the site. The WiFi plus Bluetooth models give you both.
Do I need a surge protector if the campground looks modern?
Yes. Miswired pedestals, voltage drops, and power spikes can happen anywhere regardless of how new the campground looks. Surge protection is cheap insurance compared to replacing RV electronics, appliances, or an inverter.
