The Blue Ox BX88197 10,000 lb 7 ft. Coiled Safety Cables is used to prevent the towed vehicle from breaking loose in the event of a tow bar failure or disconnect. The cable get hooked between the towed vehicle and the tow vehicle, making a secure connection. Install the cables under the tow bar crossed, so it becomes disconnected the tow bar will not hit the ground.
Attach the safety cables to a solid part of the chassis of each vehicle. Avoid using the hitch assembly, tow bar, base plate or bracket. This may not be convenient on modern unibody cars with no chassis in the traditional sense. In this case, the suggested procedure would be to hook to the base plate convenience links.
