CURT ManufacturingNo-Splice InstallCustom FitCURT 56310 Custom Fit Trailer Wiring Harness -- Vehicle-Specific T-Connector

Stop wrestling with universal wiring kits that require cutting and splicing into your vehicle's tail-light circuits. The CURT 56310 is a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play T-connector harness engineered to mate directly with your factory wiring connectors -- no bare wires, no electrical tape, no guesswork. It delivers clean, reliable 4-flat trailer wiring so your trailer's running lights, brake lights, and turn signals sync perfectly with your tow vehicle every time you hook up.

Plug-and-Play Trailer Wiring Done Right

The CURT 56310 belongs to CURT's extensive T-One Connector family -- one of the largest lineups of vehicle-specific trailer wiring harnesses in the aftermarket. Each T-One harness is engineered around a specific vehicle's OEM tail-light connector locations and pinouts, so installation comes down to unplugging the factory connectors, plugging in the T-connector in-line, and routing the 4-flat pigtail to your hitch receiver. No splicing, no soldering, no voiding of electrical warranties.

This harness is designed to draw power from the vehicle's existing tail-light circuits and pass those signals through to a standard 4-flat trailer connector (also called a 4-pin flat). That covers the four functions every trailer needs: left turn and brake, right turn and brake, running/tail lights, and ground. It is the correct connector for the vast majority of utility trailers, boat trailers, small cargo trailers, and popup campers that use a 4-flat plug.

No-Splice Design

Integrates with factory connectors behind the taillights -- zero wire cutting required. Preserves OEM wiring integrity and keeps your electrical warranty intact.

4-Flat Output Connector

Standard 4-pin flat trailer plug covers running lights, left turn/brake, right turn/brake, and ground -- compatible with the majority of small trailers and boat trailers.

Vehicle-Specific Fit

Engineered connectors match your tow vehicle's OEM tail-light harness plugs exactly -- no adapter pigtails or pin adapters needed at installation.

Weatherproof Construction

Molded connectors and sealed contact pins resist road moisture, salt spray, and vibration -- critical for trailer wiring that spends its life near the road surface.

What Is a T-One Connector?

CURT's T-One Connectors (also marketed as T-connectors or T-harnesses) sit in-line between your vehicle's OEM tail-light harness and the tail-light assemblies themselves. Because they tap into power that already exists and is already fused and controlled by the vehicle's body control module, they avoid the overload risks of a simple splice. No additional fusing or relays are required for basic 4-flat trailer lighting duties -- the circuit loading remains within OEM spec.

Clean Install, Clean Signals -- Because the 56310 uses the vehicle's own tail-light feeds rather than an add-a-circuit tap or a scotch-lock splice, turn signal timing and brake-light intensity match exactly what your trailer expects. You won't get flickering, dim brake lights, or hyperflash turn signals caused by incorrect resistance from a sloppy splice.

What's Typically Included

  • Pre-assembled T-connector harness with vehicle-side mating connectors
  • 4-flat trailer connector pigtail (standard flat 4-pin plug)
  • Protective harness sleeve or conduit on routed sections
  • Mounting hardware or zip ties for securing the pigtail
  • Vehicle-specific installation instructions
Note on Vehicle Fitment: CURT part number 56310 is a vehicle-specific harness. Confirm your year, make, and model against CURT's online fit guide before installing. CURT publishes a full compatibility lookup at their website using this part number. The harness will not physically connect to vehicles outside its designed application -- this is intentional, not a defect.

Typical Installation Overview

Most T-One installations take 20 to 45 minutes with basic hand tools. The general process for the 56310 follows the standard CURT T-One procedure:

  • Remove or pull back the cargo area trim panel to access the tail-light harness connectors (vehicle-specific location)
  • Disconnect the OEM tail-light connectors on both sides
  • Plug the T-connector harness in-line on each side -- OEM side to harness, harness to tail-light assembly
  • Route the 4-flat pigtail toward the hitch receiver opening
  • Secure the pigtail with the included hardware so it does not drag on the ground or contact the exhaust
  • Test with a trailer or a 4-flat circuit tester before first use
Maintenance Tip: Apply dielectric grease to the 4-flat connector pins annually, especially if you store your trailer outdoors or tow near saltwater. Corrosion at the 4-flat is the most common cause of intermittent trailer light faults and costs far less to prevent than to diagnose after the fact.

Compatibility and Applications

The CURT T-One family covers hundreds of vehicles. Part number 56310 is specific to a defined vehicle application in CURT's catalog. Common trailer types that pair correctly with a 4-flat output harness include:

  • Utility trailers and landscape trailers
  • Boat trailers and personal watercraft trailers
  • Small cargo and enclosed trailers
  • Popup campers and folding tent trailers with 4-flat connectors
  • Bike and motorcycle trailers
Need 5-Flat or 7-Way? If your trailer uses a 5-wire flat connector (adds a 12V auxiliary circuit) or a 7-way RV blade (adds electric brakes and 12V charge), you will need a different CURT harness or a converter/adapter. The 56310 outputs a 4-flat only. CURT makes purpose-built harnesses for 5-flat and 7-way applications across the same vehicle lineup.

Important Information
  • This is a vehicle-specific harness -- verify exact year, make, and model fitment using CURT's fit guide before purchase. Installing on an incompatible vehicle will result in connectors that do not mate.
  • The 4-flat output supports lighting circuits only. It does NOT support electric trailer brakes or 12V battery charging to the trailer. If your trailer requires either of those functions, you need a different connector or a separate brake controller wiring kit.
  • Do not exceed the current capacity of your vehicle's OEM tail-light fuses. Running additional aftermarket lighting accessories off the trailer connector can trip the vehicle's body control module protection.
  • Keep the 4-flat pigtail secured above the bumper level and away from the exhaust system. Heat and road debris are the leading causes of premature harness failure.
  • If your vehicle uses LED tail lights with a load-sensing module, verify compatibility -- some vehicles require a CURT T-One specifically rated for LED tail-light circuits to avoid hyperflash or fault codes.
