Every time you connect your RV to a campground water pedestal or municipal spigot, there is a risk that contaminants from your RV's internal lines can siphon back into the public water supply -- and vice versa. The Camco 23303 Backflow Preventer installs in seconds between your hose and city water inlet, using a spring-loaded internal check valve to ensure water only flows one direction: into your rig, never back out.
The Camco 23303 is a compact, fully brass backflow preventer designed specifically for RV city water connections. Many campgrounds and RV parks require or strongly recommend a backflow preventer be in place before hooking up to their water pedestals. This unit satisfies that requirement and adds a layer of protection for your own fresh water system as well.
Installation requires no tools -- thread the male end onto your water source (spigot or pedestal), then connect your RV drinking water hose to the female end. The spring-loaded internal mechanism opens under normal line pressure and snaps shut the moment flow stops or pressure reverses, blocking any backflow event automatically.
Solid brass construction resists corrosion and stands up to outdoor use, UV exposure, and repeated connect/disconnect cycles at the campground.
Internal spring mechanism automatically prevents reverse flow without any manual adjustment. Operates passively under normal city water pressure.
1/2" male and female hose thread (MHT x FHT) matches virtually all RV city water inlets and standard garden-style drinking water hoses.
Hand-tighten directly between your water source and hose. No wrenches, no fittings, no extra adapters needed for typical RV setups.
When you hook up to a shared water pedestal, pressure fluctuations in the campground supply line can create a back-siphonage condition. Without protection, water (and anything in it) can travel backward from your RV lines into the shared supply. Many states and Canadian provinces have plumbing codes that require backflow prevention on hose bibs used for recreational vehicles. Even where it is not legally required, using a backflow preventer is good practice and a courtesy to fellow campers.
The 23303 uses standard 1/2" male hose thread (MHT) on the inlet and 1/2" female hose thread (FHT) on the outlet. This matches:
Hose, filter, and pressure regulator are not included. For a complete water management kit, pair this with a Camco inline water filter and a water pressure regulator to protect your RV's internal plumbing from high campground line pressure.
