Campground water supplies can spike well above 100 PSI -- far more than the 40-60 PSI your RV plumbing is designed to handle. The Camco 40055 installs in seconds between the spigot and your water hose, knocking incoming pressure down to a safe 40-50 PSI range before it ever reaches your pipes, fittings, pump bypass, or water heater connections.
Excess water pressure is one of the most common and least visible causes of RV plumbing damage. Fittings crack, water lines develop pinhole leaks, and quick-connect couplings fail -- often slowly enough that you don't notice until there's water behind a wall. A simple inline regulator like the Camco 40055 eliminates that risk every time you connect to a pedestal.
The 40055 uses a fixed preset internal valve to limit output pressure to the 40-50 PSI sweet spot recommended for most RV fresh water systems. There are no adjustment knobs or gauges to fiddle with -- just thread it on and connect your hose.
Factory-set valve limits output to 40-50 PSI regardless of incoming campground pressure -- no adjustment needed.
Standard 3/4 in. GHT male inlet and female outlet thread directly onto any campground spigot and standard RV water hose.
Brass construction stands up to repeated connections and outdoor conditions far better than plastic-bodied regulators.
Installs between the spigot and your water hose in seconds -- no tools, no adapters needed for standard RV setups.
Thread the 40055 directly onto the campground water spigot first, then connect your RV drinking water hose to the regulator's outlet. This keeps the regulator at the source side, so full campground pressure never enters your hose or reaches your rig. Do not install this regulator between the water pump and your interior plumbing -- it is designed for pressurized city water hookups only.
The 40055 is a fixed (preset) regulator. It reliably delivers 40-50 PSI without any setup. If your RV needs a specific pressure outside that range -- for example, if you run a whole-house filter with high flow demand -- you may want an adjustable regulator with a gauge. For the vast majority of RV water systems, however, 40-50 PSI is the correct target range and this unit handles it simply and reliably.
