Washable and reusable polyurethane foam replacement filters for Dometic ducted return air assemblies with a 7-11/16" x 14-1/8" grille. Reduces dust and particulates without restricting airflow. Pack of 4. Black.
The Camco 40408 is a pack of four washable foam replacement filters for Dometic RV air conditioners with ducted return air ceiling assemblies. These filters sit behind the return air grille in the ceiling assembly and capture dust and particulates before they enter the air conditioning unit — protecting the evaporator coil, maintaining airflow, and improving interior air quality.
Made from polyester-based polyurethane foam, the filters are designed to catch particles without significantly restricting airflow — keeping the A/C running efficiently. Because they're washable and reusable, a single 4-pack provides long-term coverage: rinse, dry, and reinstall rather than disposing and replacing. The filters are specifically sized for Dometic ducted return air assemblies requiring a 7-11/16" x 14-1/8" grille opening.
How often to clean: Inspect the filter every 2–4 weeks during periods of heavy A/C use, or monthly during light use. Clean whenever the foam appears visibly dirty or airflow from the ceiling assembly seems reduced. How to clean: 1. Remove the ceiling grille and slide out the foam filter 2. Rinse under warm water — gently squeeze, do not wring or twist 3. Allow to air dry completely before reinstalling 4. Do not reinstall a damp filter When to replace: Replace the filter if the foam becomes torn, misshapen, or cannot be cleaned to an acceptable condition.

The 40408 fits Dometic ducted return air assemblies with a 7-11/16" x 14-1/8" grille opening. Dometic uses several different grille sizes across its product range — not all Dometic ducted ceiling assemblies use this grille size. Measure your existing grille opening or check your A/C model number against Dometic's documentation before ordering to confirm this filter size is correct for your unit.
