The Camco 40409 is the complete replacement kit for the ducted return air ceiling assembly grille on compatible Dometic RV air conditioners — including one replacement plastic grille and one foam filter. Where the 40408 (4-pack) covers filter-only replacements when the grille itself is still in good condition, the 40409 is the right choice when the grille is cracked, broken, warped, or yellowed and needs to be replaced along with the filter.
The replacement grille is constructed from durable plastic and measures 7-11/16" x 14-1/8" — the same opening size as the 40408 filter pack. The included foam filter is the same washable and reusable polyurethane foam material, designed to capture dust and particulates without restricting airflow. Installation is easy and tool-free: the grille snaps into the ceiling assembly opening, and the filter slides behind it.

Tool-free replacement: 1. Remove the existing grille from the ceiling assembly — most Dometic grilles unclip or unsnap without tools 2. Slide out the old foam filter and discard 3. Insert the new foam filter behind the new grille 4. Snap the new grille assembly into the ceiling opening Filter maintenance: Once installed, rinse the foam filter with warm water when it appears dirty, allow to fully dry, and reinstall. Replace filters as needed using the 40408 4-pack.
The 40409 grille measures 7-11/16" x 14-1/8". This fits Dometic ducted return air assemblies requiring this specific grille size — not all Dometic ducted units use the same grille dimensions. Measure your existing grille or check your A/C model documentation before ordering. If your grille is a different size, this kit will not fit correctly.
