Thirty feet of reach without compromise. The PowerGrip 55142 is built for RV sites, mobile homes, and outdoor work where a standard short cord just doesn't make it. Full 14-gauge copper conductors and a rugged flame-retardant PVC jacket mean you're not sacrificing ampacity or safety to get the length you need.
Standard 15-amp extension cords cut corners on wire gauge, using 16-gauge or thinner conductors that create voltage drop and heat buildup under sustained loads. The Camco 55142 uses 100% copper 14-gauge conductors throughout -- the same gauge recommended for 15-amp circuits up to 50 feet -- so you get full rated capacity at the far end of the cord, not a fraction of it.
The NEMA 5-15P male plug fits any standard 3-prong 15-amp household outlet -- the same style found at most RV park pedestals on 15-amp circuits, campground water stations, and outdoor receptacles. The NEMA 5-15R female connector accepts standard 3-prong plugs. Both ends are grounded for safety.
100% copper conductors handle the full 15-amp rated load across all 30 feet with minimal voltage drop. No aluminum fill or copper-clad substitutes.
Heat-resistant, flame-retardant PVC outer jacket resists cracking and degradation from UV exposure, moisture, and heat -- suited for outdoor and campsite use.
5-15P male to 5-15R female -- the universal 3-prong 15-amp standard. Fits pedestal outlets, household receptacles, generator outputs, and power strips.
Molded grip on the male plug end makes insertion and removal easier, especially in tight pedestal boxes or covered outdoor receptacles.
Using an undersized extension cord (16-gauge or smaller) on a sustained 15-amp load causes resistive heating in the wire itself -- a fire and tripping risk. At 30 feet, 14-gauge copper keeps resistance within safe limits and delivers the full 125V/1875W capacity to your appliance. The Camco 55142 is rated specifically for this combination of length and ampacity.
This cord is rated for 15-amp / 125V / 1875W maximum. It is not a 30-amp RV shore power cord and does not fit 30-amp (NEMA TT-30) or 50-amp (NEMA 14-50) RV inlets. If your RV requires a 30-amp or 50-amp connection, you need a different cord. This cord is appropriate for smaller rigs, pop-up campers, teardrop trailers, and accessories that run on standard 15-amp household circuits.
If your RV requires a 30-amp connection, look for Camco's TT-30 shore power cords and dogbone adapters. For 50-amp rigs, Camco offers 14-50 and SS2-50 rated cords. Camco also makes surge protectors and power management units compatible with 15-amp circuits for added protection at questionable campground pedestals.
