The Camco 55374 is a double end-to-end battery box — a single elongated enclosure that houses two batteries positioned end-to-end in a shared compartment. It accommodates either two 6V Group GC2 golf cart batteries (wired in series to produce 12V) or two 12V Group 24/24M batteries (wired in parallel to increase capacity), covering the two most common dual-battery configurations used in travel trailers and RVs.
The box is constructed from heavy-duty, acid-resistant, corrosion-resistant polypropylene — the standard material for battery enclosures that resists the off-gassing and spills associated with lead-acid batteries. A vented design allows battery gasses to escape rather than accumulate. Two hold-down straps and four strap clamps with screws are included to secure the batteries inside the box during travel. When used with two 6V GC2 batteries, the box meets U.S. Coast Guard CFR 183.420 and ABYC E-10.7 marine safety specifications.
Two 6V Group GC2 batteries (series): Wire positive of one to negative of the other — combined output is 12V with the full amp-hour capacity of a single GC2 battery. Common in solar and off-grid RV setups where deep-cycle capacity is important. Two 12V Group 24/24M batteries (parallel): Wire both positives together and both negatives together — stays at 12V but doubles the amp-hour capacity. Common where more total energy storage is needed without a voltage change. Both configurations fit in the same 55374 box. The correct wiring method depends on your system design.

The 55374 is confirmed to fit Group 24 and 24M batteries. Group 27 batteries are physically larger and are not confirmed to fit this box — despite how some listings describe this product. If you have Group 27 batteries, verify dimensions before ordering or see a box specifically rated for Group 27. Always ensure the battery box is secured to the RV frame or battery tray — the included straps secure the batteries inside the box, not the box to the vehicle.
