Municipal campground water varies wildly from site to site. One park may push heavily chlorinated water; the next may have sediment, sulfur smell, or scale-forming minerals that clog your water heater anode and stress your faucet valves. The Camco EVO X3 sits inline between your water source and your RV's city water inlet, treating every drop before it enters the coach.
Unlike single-canister inline filters, the X3 uses three separate housings in series, each targeted at a specific contaminant class. That staged approach keeps each cartridge working efficiently and extends the service life of the downstream stages -- particularly the fine 0.2-micron membrane that does the heavy lifting at the end of the train.
Coarser pre-filter captures rust, dirt, sand, and particulate matter before they reach the finer downstream stages.

The EVO X3 is engineered for high-flow throughput so filtration does not noticeably reduce your campsite water pressure. The large-canister housings allow adequate dwell time for effective contaminant reduction without the pressure drop you get from undersized inline filters.
Chlorine and sediment are the two biggest enemies of RV water system components. Chlorine degrades EPDM seals and rubber fittings over time; sediment works its way into pump inlet screens, showerhead restrictors, and toilet fill valves. Running the EVO X3 full time is the single most effective step you can take to extend service life on your water pump, water heater, and fixtures.
The 0.2-micron final stage is particularly valuable for full-timers and anyone who fills from unknown municipal supplies. At that pore size, the membrane captures Cryptosporidium and Giardia cysts, which are common in surface-sourced municipal water and are resistant to chlorine disinfection alone.
Camco offers replacement cartridges for all three stages separately, so you can swap only the stage that has reached end-of-life rather than replacing the entire system. Cartridge change intervals depend on source water quality and volume used. Inspect cartridges at least once per season, or whenever you notice reduced flow or a return of taste/odor issues. Use the included wrench -- hand-tight only when reinstalling to avoid cracking the canister housing.
The EVO X3 is designed for cold water, exterior use only. Do not install inline on the hot water side of your system. Protect the canisters from freezing -- water trapped inside an unprotected canister will crack the housing. When storing the RV or winterizing, remove and drain all cartridges or use your normal blow-out procedure before the canisters freeze. The system is intended for treated municipal water supplies; it is not rated as a purifier for raw or untreated well/surface water.
