Stop letting weather, UV exposure, and road grime chip away at your pop-up camper's finish. The Gold Shield 5L cover is engineered specifically for folding pop-up campers in the 18 to 20 foot range, combining a five-layer top panel with a breathable microporous film that lets moisture vapor escape while keeping rain, snow, dust, and UV rays out.

All-Season Protection for Your Folding Pop-Up Camper

Folding pop-up campers present a unique storage challenge -- their low profile and canvas tent sections are especially vulnerable to UV degradation, mildew, and accumulated debris during off-season storage. The Gold Shield 5L addresses that directly with a laminated multi-layer fabric system rather than a single-ply tarp.

The top panel uses five layers -- four polypropylene PLUS layers bonded with one central microporous film layer -- for maximum weather resistance where it matters most. Side panels use a three-layer construction (two polypropylene PLUS layers plus microporous film) that is lighter but still fully protective. The top panel extends downward to overlap the sides, eliminating the gap where water typically intrudes.

5-Layer Top Panel

Four polypropylene PLUS layers plus one microporous film layer block rain, snow, hail, tree sap, and bird droppings while allowing vapor to escape and preventing mildew.

Breathable Microporous Film

The integrated film layer allows warm, moist air to vent outward, preventing the condensation and rot that sealed tarps cause on canvas tent sections and wood framing.

Secure Fit System

Weighted adjustable buckles cinch the cover tight to eliminate billowing in wind. Elastic hems at front and rear corners conform to the camper's shape and stay put through storms.

Easy Solo Installation

Slip-seam design, weighted buckles, and elastic corners allow one person to install the cover without tools. A storage bag keeps it compact when not in use.

Why a Multi-Layer Fabric Matters for Pop-Up Campers

Single-layer covers trap condensation against canvas tent sections and aluminum extrusions, creating exactly the mildew and oxidation conditions you are trying to prevent. The Gold Shield 5L's microporous film layer is vapor-permeable -- it passes moisture vapor out but blocks liquid water from getting in. This is the same principle used in quality outdoor apparel membranes and is especially important for pop-ups stored for months at a time.

The polypropylene PLUS outer layers are UV-stabilized to resist breaking down from prolonged sun exposure. CarCover states the top blocks over 98% of dirt and dust from reaching the camper surface. The reflective gray color also helps reduce heat buildup inside the cover during summer storage, protecting vinyl, canvas, and plastic components.

Sunlight Reflection: The gray polypropylene outer surface reflects solar radiation, reducing heat buildup under the cover and helping protect canvas tent fabric, vinyl graphics, and interior components during warm-weather storage.

Fit and Installation Details

This cover is sized for folding pop-up campers with an overall length of 18 to 20 feet. The cover itself measures 20.5 feet long x 7.17 feet wide x 3.75 feet tall, providing overhang on all sides for complete coverage down to the wheel wells and hitch.

  • Adjustable buckle system -- weighted buckles hang down and cinch with a strap to eliminate slack
  • Elastic hems at front and rear pull snug around the camper corners
  • Slip-seam construction conforms to the folded camper profile and reduces wind load
  • Double-line stitching at all panel junctions for long-term seam integrity
  • No tools required -- typical installation time is under 15 minutes for one person
Sizing Note: Measure your folding pop-up camper from the front hitch coupler to the rear bumper (overall length, not box length) before ordering. This cover is rated for campers 18 to 20 feet in total length. A cover that is too large will billow and abrade the surface; one that is too small will not provide full perimeter coverage.

What Is Included

  • Gold Shield 5L pop-up camper cover (5FC-1820)
  • Patch kit for field repairs to the cover fabric
  • Zippered storage bag for off-season storage of the cover itself
Not Included: Tie-down straps or anchoring cables for high-wind conditions are not included. In areas with sustained high winds, additional securing is recommended. The cover is designed for storage use; it is not rated for highway travel or use while towing.
Storage and Care Tips: Clean the camper surface before installing the cover to avoid trapping grit against the finish. Periodically lift the cover edges to check for moisture accumulation if storing in high-humidity climates. The cover fabric can be wiped down with mild soap and water; avoid harsh solvents that may degrade the polypropylene layers.

Important Information
  • Verify your folding pop-up camper's overall length (hitch coupler to rear bumper) is between 18 and 20 feet before purchasing -- do not measure box length only.
  • This cover is designed for stationary storage use only. Do not travel with this cover installed; it is not rated for highway speeds and can cause damage to the cover and camper if driven with.
  • Always ensure the camper surface is clean and dry before installing the cover to prevent trapping abrasive debris against the finish.
  • Additional tie-down hardware is recommended in high-wind environments; standard buckles and elastic hems are designed for typical storage conditions.
  • Do not use bleach or petroleum-based solvents to clean the cover fabric, as these will degrade the polypropylene and microporous film layers.
  • The patch kit included addresses minor cover damage only. Large tears or delamination of the film layer will reduce water resistance.
How To Measure Your Folding Popup Camper:

Length: Measure the longest distance from the front to the rear of the camper, ensuring to include the spare tire and ladder. Be sure to exclude the hitch and tongue from your measurements!

Height: Measure the sidewalls of the camper from the highest point of the roofline down to the outer frame. Remember to exclude ground clearance, roof-mounted accessories, vents, and air conditioning units. If your trailer is equipped with an air conditioner and the height measurement (excluding the A/C unit) is within 4 inches of the maximum limit for the cover you're considering, we recommend opting for the next larger size to accommodate the air conditioner.

How to Install Your Pop-up Camper Cover:

1. Identify the Front: Most folding pop-up camper covers feature a "Front" tag on the interior, either sewn or stamped. Use this tag to clearly determine the front and rear of your cover.
2. Check Tag Placement: Ensure that all tags are located on the inside of the cover. Installing the cover upside down may lead to damage to your vehicle's paint.
3. Prepare the Cover: Fold the sides of the cover toward the center for easier handling.
4. Roll the Cover: Starting from the rear, roll the cover toward the front, leaving the loose end at the front.
5. Position the Rolled Cover: Place the rolled cover at the rear of the folding pop-up camper.
6. Unfold the Cover: Begin at the front of the camper and unfold the cover from side to side, allowing it to drape down over the sides as you move toward the rear.
7. Adjust as Needed: Walk around the camper and make any necessary adjustments to ensure the cover fits snugly from side to side.

Removal:

1. Release All Fastenings: Carefully undo all straps and zippers securing the folding pop-up camper cover.
2. Lift the Front: Raise the front of the cover to the top of the folding pop-up camper.
3. Lower from the Rear: From the rear of the camper, gently pull the cover down to remove it completely.

For Cleaning:

Proper care of your RV cover is essential for maintaining its performance and water resistance. Contaminants like dirt and grease can damage the cover, so regular washing is recommended for long-lasting protection.

You can wash the cover by hand or in a washing machine. For hand washing, install the cover on your RV, rinse it with a hose, then use a cloth and multi-purpose cleaner to scrub. Rinse again and either towel dry or let it air dry.

For machine washing, use the largest machine available, set it to gentle mode, and wash with mild powder detergent in cold water—avoid bleach and fabric softeners. Rinse the cover twice to remove all detergent, and always air dry.
