Coleman Mach 15,000 BTU Ultra-Low Profile Coleman Mach 8 Plus -- 37204-076 -- 15,000 BTU Rooftop Air Conditioner, Arctic White

The Mach 8 Plus is Coleman Mach's premium low-profile rooftop AC, engineered to deliver maximum cooling capacity with a streamlined shroud that reduces wind drag and improves fuel efficiency on the road. Twin independent motors keep BTU output consistent whether you run on high or low speed -- a genuine advantage over single-motor designs that lose efficiency at lower settings.

Full Cooling Power, Lower Profile

Most rooftop ACs compromise at low speed -- the fan slows down and actual cooling output drops noticeably. The Mach 8 Plus uses two separate motors: one dedicated to the fan and one to the compressor circuit. This allows the unit to maintain its full 15,000 BTU cooling capacity across both high and low fan settings, so you get real comfort control rather than just a noise adjustment.

The low-profile aerodynamic shroud sits closer to the roofline than standard dome-style units, cutting wind resistance at highway speeds. For full-timers and frequent travelers, this translates to measurable fuel savings over time. The Arctic White finish is UV-stabilized to resist yellowing and chalking through years of sun exposure.

Dual-Motor Design

Separate fan and compressor motors maintain full 15,000 BTU output on both high and low speed settings.

Ultra-Low Profile Shroud

Aerodynamic rooftop housing reduces wind drag at highway speeds compared to standard dome-style units.

Standard 14 x 14 Cutout

Mounts to the industry-standard 14 in. x 14 in. roof opening -- direct replacement for most Class A, B, and C coach ACs.

Arctic White Finish

UV-stabilized exterior resists yellowing and chalking under prolonged sun exposure.

What Makes the Mach 8 Plus Different

Coleman Mach has produced RV rooftop air conditioners for decades, and the Mach 8 series sits at the top of their product line. The "Plus" designation specifically refers to the dual-motor configuration. On a conventional single-motor rooftop AC, running on low speed reduces both airflow and compressor efficiency simultaneously -- you end up with less cooling than the BTU rating suggests. The Mach 8 Plus decouples these two systems so the compressor continues running at full efficiency regardless of fan speed selected.

This is especially useful for overnight use: you can run the fan on low for quieter operation while still getting the full cooling load needed to maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature.

Consistent BTU Output at Any Fan Speed

The dual-motor architecture is the key technical differentiator of the Mach 8 Plus. Unlike single-motor units where low-speed operation reduces overall system efficiency, the Mach 8 Plus maintains its rated 15,000 BTU cooling capacity on both high and low settings. You are choosing airflow volume and noise level, not sacrificing cooling power.

Roof Mounting and Installation

The Mach 8 Plus installs over a standard 14 in. x 14 in. roof opening, the same opening used by the vast majority of RV rooftop ACs sold in North America. It is a direct drop-in replacement for most existing Coleman Mach units and is also compatible with openings currently occupied by other brand units of the same footprint.

The unit ships as the rooftop condenser/evaporator assembly. A ceiling assembly (air distribution box) is required for interior installation and is sold separately. Coleman Mach offers matching ceiling assemblies in a range of configurations including manual and digital thermostat options. Verify ceiling assembly compatibility before ordering if you are replacing an existing unit.

Ceiling Assembly Sold Separately

Part 37204-076 is the rooftop unit only. The interior ceiling assembly -- which houses the evaporator coil cover, filters, and thermostat interface -- is not included. Coleman Mach ceiling assemblies compatible with the Mach 8 series are available separately. If you are replacing an existing Mach 8 rooftop unit and keeping your current ceiling box, confirm the ceiling assembly is rated for 15,000 BTU units before proceeding.

Sizing Your RV for 15,000 BTU

As a general guideline, 15,000 BTU is appropriate for RV living spaces ranging from approximately 280 to 400 square feet under moderate climate conditions. Smaller Class B and teardrop trailers under 200 sq ft may be adequately served by a 13,500 BTU unit. Larger Class A motorhomes and fifth wheels over 35 feet often use two units -- one in the living area and one in the bedroom. The 15,000 BTU output of the Mach 8 Plus makes it the most common choice for mid-size to large travel trailers and Class C motorhomes.

Electrical Requirements -- 30A or 50A Shore Power Recommended

A 15,000 BTU rooftop AC draws approximately 12.5 to 13.5 amps at 120V AC during startup and 7 to 9 amps running. Startup (locked rotor) amperage can briefly exceed 15A. Running a single 15,000 BTU unit on a 30A shore power connection is feasible when other high-draw appliances are managed. Attempting to run this unit on a 20A or 15A circuit is not recommended. Always verify your shore power pedestal and onboard wiring are properly rated before installation.

Maintenance Tips

  • Clean or replace the interior ceiling assembly filters every 30 days during heavy use. Restricted airflow is the leading cause of reduced cooling performance and compressor overheating.
  • Inspect the roof gasket seal annually and after any roof work. A failed gasket allows water intrusion around the base plate.
  • Keep the condenser fins clear of debris. A soft brush or low-pressure compressed air works well; avoid high-pressure water directly on the coil fins.
  • In winter storage, cover the exterior shroud to prevent UV degradation of plastic components and keep pests out of the housing.

Important Information -- Read Before Installing

  • Ceiling assembly not included. This part number covers the rooftop unit only. A separate Coleman Mach ceiling assembly (air distribution box, filters, and thermostat) is required to complete the installation and is sold separately.
  • Professional installation recommended. Rooftop AC installation requires working on the roof, handling refrigerant-sealed systems, and making 120V AC electrical connections. Improper wiring or sealing can result in water damage, electrical hazards, or voided warranty.
  • Verify roof opening dimensions before ordering. The standard 14 in. x 14 in. opening fits the vast majority of RVs, but confirm your coach's opening size if you are unsure.
  • Startup amperage surge: Like all compressor-based ACs, the Mach 8 Plus draws a higher locked-rotor amperage on startup than its running draw. Ensure your shore power connection, generator, and onboard wiring can handle the startup load before installation.
  • Roof weight and structural integrity: Confirm your roof structure can support the unit weight (approximately 73 -- 80 lbs) before installation, particularly on older fiberglass or rubber-membrane roofs.
  • Not a heat pump: The Mach 8 Plus is a cooling-only unit. For year-round climate control, a compatible Coleman Mach heat strip kit or a separate heating source is required.
