Stop living with a cracked, faded, or torn awning. Carefree of Colorado's JG184E4EMP replacement fabric brings your slide or patio awning back to life with heavy-duty 13.5 oz vinyl, integrated Weatherguard backing, and a clean one-piece valance-and-canopy design. Built to fit most 18 ft awning systems from A&E, Carter, Carefree, Dometic, Faulkner, and Norseman -- no sewing, no splicing, just a clean swap.
The JG184E4EMP is sized for 18 ft awning systems and ships at a finished fabric length of 17ft 2in. This is intentional: the fabric is designed to sit approximately 5 inches inboard of each arm, for a total clearance of 10 inches across the span. That short-of-full-width cut prevents edge wear and accommodates standard arm geometry on the supported awning brands.
Measuring before you order is critical. To confirm this is the right size, measure the awning width from the center of the right arm to the center of the left arm. If that measurement is 18 ft, this fabric is your match.
Valance and main canopy are integrated into a single uniform panel -- no seam at the fold line, cleaner look when fully extended.
White Weatherguard layer protects the underside of the rolled fabric from UV exposure, road grime, and abrasion during travel.
Heavier-grade vinyl resists sagging, holds color longer, and sheds water more effectively than lighter economy fabrics.
Two polyrods seat into two separate slots in the roller tube for a secure, rattle-free connection that keeps the fabric properly tensioned.
This fabric uses standard polyrod sizing and a single-hemmed edge with traditional fabric thread, making it compatible with the roller tube and arm hardware found on most major awning systems sold under these brand names:
Fitment Note: Compatibility depends on your roller tube accepting a standard polyrod in two slots. If your awning uses a non-standard retention system (spring-wire, adhesive channel, or proprietary clip), verify before ordering. Most A&E and Carefree patio awnings from the past two decades use the standard dual-polyrod system this fabric is built for.
Replacement is a two-person job. The old fabric slides out of the roller tube and roller bar channels; the new fabric slides in using the included spline tool. The polyrods insert into the designated slots in the roller tube to anchor the fabric end. No special tools beyond the included spline tool are required for most installations.
What's Included: (1) Midnight Black vinyl awning fabric at 17ft 2in finished length, (1) spline insertion tool, and printed installation instructions. Roller tube, arms, and hardware are NOT included.
The main canopy and valance fabric is Midnight Black -- a solid, deep charcoal-black vinyl that pairs cleanly with most RV exterior colors and gives a sharp, low-profile look when extended. The Weatherguard backing layer visible from inside is White, which reflects heat and brightens the shade area underneath. Smaller-scale fabric surface texture keeps the overall appearance tidy and uniform at full extension.
Maintenance Tips: Clean vinyl awning fabric with mild soap and water -- avoid bleach-based cleaners or stiff bristle brushes that can abrade the surface coating. Allow the fabric to dry fully before rolling to prevent mold and mildew buildup in the roller tube. Retract the awning in winds above 20--25 mph to protect both the fabric and the arm hardware.
Also Available: Carefree of Colorado offers this Cut-To-Fit replacement fabric in multiple lengths and colors to match different awning sizes and RV styles. If your awning measures a different width from arm center to arm center, check the corresponding size in the Carefree JG series lineup.
