Equal-i-zer 90-02-4525 Adjustable Weight Distribution Shank — 2-1/2" Receiver, 3" Drop, 7" Rise, 16" Extended Length

Equal-i-zer 90-02-4525 Adjustable Weight Distribution Shank, 2-1/2" Receiver, 3" Drop, 7" Rise, 16" Extended Length

Extended-length shank for Equal-i-zer "no shank" weight distribution hitch systems. Fits 2-1/2" receivers. Minimal 3" drop with 7" rise — for HD trucks with low receiver heights towing level or low-coupler trailers. 16" length provides greater hitch head clearance and adjustability. 6 mounting holes.

Why Choose the Equal-i-zer 90-02-4525 Shank?

The Equal-i-zer 90-02-4525 is the extended-length version of the standard 2-1/2" shank family — 16" in overall length compared to the 12" standard shanks, providing additional clearance between the hitch head and the rear of the tow vehicle. This extra length is particularly useful on HD trucks where the hitch head needs more room to clear the bumper or other rear-end obstructions, or where the extended length provides better geometry for hitch head placement.

With just 3" of drop and 7" of rise, the 90-02-4525 is designed for tow vehicle and trailer combinations where the receiver and coupler heights are close together — HD trucks with lower receiver heights, or trailers whose couplers sit at a similar height to the receiver. The 3" drop brings the hitch ball only slightly below the receiver, while the 7" rise when flipped accommodates setups where the coupler is higher. Six mounting holes on the shank allow adjustment of the hitch head position to dial in the exact ball height needed. High-grade American steel and hand-dipped black paint construction deliver the same durability standard as the rest of the Equal-i-zer line.

📏 16" Extended Length

Longer than standard 12" shanks — provides additional clearance between the hitch head and truck rear, and more adjustability range

↕️ 3" Drop / 7" Rise

Minimal drop for HD trucks with low receiver heights or near-level receiver-to-coupler setups — 7" of rise when flipped

🔩 2-1/2" Receiver — Class V

Sized for the 2-1/2" receiver tube found on HD trucks and Class V hitch applications

🔧 6 Mounting Holes

Six bolt hole positions for fine-tuning hitch head height placement on the shank to achieve optimal ball height

⚠️ For "No Shank" Equal-i-zer Systems — Verify Drop, Length, and Receiver Size Before Ordering

1. "No Shank" systems only: This shank is designed for Equal-i-zer weight distribution hitches ordered or sold without a shank. If your system came with a standard shank, this is a replacement or upgrade option.

2. Verify your required drop: Equal-i-zer measures shank adjustment from the inside top of the receiver to the base of the hitch ball. The 90-02-4525 provides only 3" of drop — confirm this matches your specific receiver-to-coupler height difference before ordering. If your receiver is significantly higher than the trailer coupler, you likely need a shank with more drop (see the 90-02-4325 or 90-02-4425 for 6" or 9" drop in 2-1/2" receiver sizing).

3. Extended length consideration: The 16" length extends the hitch head further behind the vehicle than a standard 12" shank. Confirm there are no rear bumper, trailer hitch, or other clearance issues with the longer shank before installing.

4. Asymmetrical drop/rise: The 90-02-4525 has a 3" drop but a 7" rise when flipped — confirm which orientation you need before ordering.

📐 Why Extended Length? Standard vs. 16" Shank

Equal-i-zer offers shanks in two lengths for 2-1/2" receivers — 12" standard and 16" extended. Here's when each applies:

Standard 12" Shank (90-02-4225, 90-02-4325, 90-02-4425):
Suitable for most standard HD truck and trailer combinations. Positions the hitch head closer to the rear of the vehicle — often preferred when a more compact setup is desired.

Extended 16" Shank (90-02-4525, 90-02-4625) — This Product:
Used when additional clearance between the hitch head and the rear bumper is needed, or when the truck's geometry benefits from the hitch head being positioned further back. Also provides more flexibility in adjusting hitch head height with 6 hole positions.
