The heater must be connected to both a power and gas source for the antifreeze feature to function — standard winterization procedures are still recommended during extended storage in cold weather.
Furrion's Vortex technology pre-mixes hot and cold water inside the unit before delivering it to the tap, eliminating the cold spots and temperature spikes that can occur with standard tankless units. The antifreeze control board activates the heating mechanism to prevent freezing only when the unit is connected to both a power source and a gas (propane) source. If the RV is in storage with utilities disconnected, the antifreeze feature will not activate. For extended cold-weather storage without power/gas: Standard RV winterization procedures (draining water lines, adding antifreeze to the plumbing system) are still required even with this model.
