The Girard 2GWHAM (formerly known as GSWH-2) is a purpose-built tankless propane water heater designed specifically for RV plumbing systems. Unlike residential tankless heaters adapted for RV use, the 2GWHAM was engineered from the ground up for the RV environment -- compact footprint, low amp draw, LP gas operation, and freeze protection built in. It fits into a standard 13 x 13 inch exterior wall cutout, making it a direct upgrade path from older tank-style units or a straightforward install in new builds.
The microprocessor continuously reads inlet water temperature, flow rate, and outlet temperature, then modulates the burner output to maintain your selected temperature. You dial in your comfort level with the GMC Dial and the unit does the rest. Flow rate naturally affects output temperature -- lower flow produces hotter water, higher flow produces cooler water -- so small adjustments at the faucet give you full control.

A tankless unit like the 2GWHAM heats water only when flow is detected -- the moment you open a hot faucet, the burner ignites. The 42,000 BTU output is sized specifically for typical RV plumbing demand: a single shower or sink at a time, or simultaneous low-flow use at multiple fixtures.
Temperature output is a function of incoming water temperature and flow rate. In warmer climates, you may run the faucet more open for the same comfort level. In cold climates or when running well water, you may slow the flow slightly to reach your preferred temperature. This is normal behavior for all tankless systems and not a defect.
The 2GWHAM connects to your existing 11 to 14 inch WCI LP supply and standard RV water lines. No high-pressure gas lines, no special regulators, and no dedicated breaker -- it draws under 3 amps at 12VDC.
The heater mounts inside a 13 x 13 inch exterior wall cutout, with a depth requirement of 15.5 inches. Overall unit dimensions are 12.5 inches wide by 12.5 inches tall by 15.5 inches deep, and the unit weighs 22 lbs. Water connections are standard RV plumbing fittings. The LP gas connection works with your existing coach LP supply at 11 to 14 inches WCI inlet pressure.

Because there is no storage tank, winterizing the 2GWHAM is simpler than a tank-style unit. There is no bypass valve to install or manage -- you simply blow out the water lines using your standard RV winterization procedure. No anode rod replacement is needed at any service interval, reducing annual maintenance costs and effort.
