Stop relying on a bare inlet that leaves your RV vulnerable to low voltage, surges, and wiring faults. The Hughes Autoformers SV30API-W Smart Power Inlet puts intelligent shore power management right at the entry point of your electrical system -- before current ever reaches your converter, appliances, or sensitive electronics. Designed for any 30-amp RV with a standard TT-30 shore power connection, this inlet monitors incoming voltage and guards against the damage that kills inverters, air conditioners, and refrigerators.
Most RVers know the frustration of low-voltage campground power. Old campground pedestals, long extension runs, and peak-demand evenings can drag supply voltage down to levels that force motors to draw excessive amperage, overheat, and fail early. The Hughes SV30API-W is built around the same automatic voltage regulation (AVR) philosophy that made Hughes Autoformers famous -- but integrated directly into a wall-mount power inlet so you get protection without adding a separate box inside the rig.
The inlet is finished in white to match standard RV exterior trim panels. At 8.0 x 7.0 x 1.0 inches it mounts flush against the sidewall with a low-profile design that resists wind and road debris, and at 5.5 lbs the assembly is solid without adding unnecessary weight to the coach.
Continuously reads incoming shore power voltage and responds to under-voltage and over-voltage conditions before damage can reach your appliances.
Integrated surge suppression absorbs voltage spikes from the grid, generator switching, and lightning-induced transients -- no separate surge guard required.
Accepts a standard TT-30 shore power plug. Compatible with every 30-amp campground pedestal, generator outlet, and RV park hookup in North America.
Low 1.0-inch profile sits nearly flush with the RV sidewall. Resists road grime, moisture, and UV exposure better than a protruding box-style inlet.
Hughes Autoformers built its reputation on the Hughes Autoformer voltage boosting transformer -- a product that became standard equipment for full-timers and seasonal RVers dealing with chronically weak campground power. The SV30API-W extends that philosophy to the inlet itself. Rather than requiring owners to plug a separate device in between the pedestal and the coach, the smart inlet handles voltage monitoring and surge suppression at the point of entry.
This is particularly valuable for Class A, Class C, and fifth-wheel owners who use central management panels and want a clean electrical bay. There is no additional device to mount, no cord to manage, and no question about whether protection is connected -- it is always in the circuit the moment shore power is plugged in.
The SV30API-W is designed for any RV wired for 30-amp shore power service. This includes:
This inlet is NOT a drop-in replacement for 50-amp service panels. If your RV has a 50-amp (NEMA 14-50) system, Hughes offers a separate 50-amp smart inlet. Do not attempt to use the SV30API-W on a 50-amp panel.
If you are replacing a damaged, corroded, or standard (non-smart) 30-amp inlet, the SV30API-W is designed to fit in a similar footprint. Mounting screw pattern and cutout dimensions should be verified against your existing opening before installation, as coach manufacturers vary in cutout size. The overall plate is 8.0 x 7.0 inches, which is large enough to cover the rough opening of most factory 30-amp inlet cutouts.
The inlet is rated for 30-amp continuous service. Wire it with 10 AWG copper conductors minimum. The hot, neutral, and ground terminals accept standard ring or spade terminals and screw-down connections typical of RV inlet wiring. Do not use aluminum wiring with this inlet.
