The 26 Series uses a demand-sensing logic control unit to drive the step in and out with every door cycle. There is no switch to flip, no step to kick out manually, and no risk of driving away with the step deployed -- the system retracts automatically when the door closes. If the step strikes an obstacle during extension or retraction, the motor shuts down immediately to protect the mechanism and prevent injury.
Solid 3/4" steel drive rods and stainless steel bushings keep the scissors linkage operating smoothly through thousands of cycles. Air-pressed rivet fasteners at every joint eliminate play and rattling. The step operates on 12V DC power drawn from your RV's house battery or chassis electrical system. Wire gauge and fusing should follow Kwikee's standard wiring diagram for the 26 Series LCU. The door switch triggers the LCU, which drives the motor -- do not wire the motor directly to the door switch. The system draws moderate amperage during extension and retraction; a 15A inline fuse on the supply circuit is typical for this series.
