Lippert / HappiJac Genuine OEM Replacement Plug-n-Play 3-Pin Harness

Lippert 182443 HappiJac Upper Limit Microswitch -- 18" Bed Lift Harness

Stop your HappiJac bed lift from overtravel. This genuine Lippert replacement upper limit microswitch includes a ready-to-connect 18-inch 3-pin Plug-n-Play harness -- no splicing, no guesswork, just swap and go.

The Right Upper Limit Switch for HappiJac Bed Lift Systems

HappiJac power bed lift systems use upper and lower limit microswitches to tell the motor when to stop. When the upper limit switch fails, your bed lift may refuse to raise, stop short of the full-up position, or fail to stop at all -- creating a safety hazard. The Lippert 182443 is the correct OEM upper limit replacement for compatible HappiJac systems.

The 18-inch Plug-n-Play harness connects directly to the existing wiring loom on your HappiJac lift. The 3-pin connector matches the factory plug on compatible units, so installation requires no wire-cutting, no crimping, and no electrical guesswork. Remove the failed switch, plug in the new one, and your lift is back in operation.

Genuine OEM Part

Sourced directly from Lippert / HappiJac to ensure correct fit, function, and durability in your bed lift system.

Plug-n-Play Harness

Pre-terminated 18-inch harness with a 3-pin factory-match connector -- no splicing or soldering required.

Upper Limit Function

Signals the lift motor to stop when the bunk reaches the full-up position, preventing mechanical overtravel damage.

Direct Drop-In Replacement

Replaces the original upper microswitch on compatible HappiJac power bed lift systems with no modifications needed.

What Is a Bed Lift Limit Switch?

The limit microswitch is a small electromechanical sensor mounted at the travel endpoint of your HappiJac bed lift mechanism. When the platform or bunk arm physically contacts or releases the switch actuator, the switch opens or closes a circuit, cutting power to the motor. The upper switch stops upward travel; a separate lower switch (not included) stops downward travel.

These switches endure repeated mechanical actuation -- every raise and lower cycle trips the switch. Over time, the internal contact can wear, corrode, or the actuator arm can break, causing erratic lift behavior. Replacing a failed limit switch is one of the most common HappiJac service procedures.

Plug-n-Play Advantage

The factory 3-pin Plug-n-Play connector on this harness eliminates the risk of mis-wiring during replacement. The connector is keyed -- it only seats correctly in the matching socket on the lift control harness, keeping polarity and signal lines correct without any reference to a wiring diagram.

Diagnosing a Failed Upper Limit Switch

Common symptoms of a failed HappiJac upper limit switch include:

  • Bed raises but will not stop at the full-up position (motor keeps running or strains against the frame)
  • Bed will not raise at all, even though the motor runs briefly or hums
  • Bed raises partway and stops inconsistently at different heights
  • Control panel shows an upper-limit fault or the lift cycles erratically
  • Visible physical damage to the switch body or actuator arm at the upper mount location

Before replacing the switch, confirm the harness connector is fully seated and the switch mounting bracket is secure and correctly positioned relative to the lift arm contact point.

Upper vs. Lower Switch

This is the upper limit switch only. HappiJac bed lift systems use a separate lower limit switch to stop downward travel. If your lift fails to stop when lowering -- or will not lower at all -- you likely need the lower limit switch, which is a different part number. Make sure you identify which endpoint is causing the issue before ordering.

Confirm Compatibility Before Installing

HappiJac produced several generations of bed lift systems, and not all microswitches are interchangeable across all models. Verify your lift model number and compare the existing switch body style and connector type to this part before installation. The 3-pin Plug-n-Play connector style is specific to compatible HappiJac lift generations -- if your existing harness has a different pin count or connector housing, this part may not be the correct fit.

Installation Tips

  • Disconnect 12V power to the bed lift system before replacing the switch.
  • Note the exact mounting position and orientation of the old switch before removal -- correct actuator alignment is critical to proper operation.
  • After installation, manually cycle the lift through one full raise-and-lower cycle while watching the switch actuator engagement to confirm correct trigger point.
  • If the lift still malfunctions after switch replacement, inspect the control board, motor brushes, and wiring harness for additional faults.

Important Information

  • Upper switch only: This part controls upward travel cutoff only. It does not replace the lower limit switch. Order the correct switch for the travel direction that is malfunctioning.
  • Disconnect power first: Always disconnect 12V power to the lift system before removing or installing any limit switch or harness component.
  • Confirm connector match: The 3-pin Plug-n-Play connector must physically match your existing lift harness socket. If your system uses a different pin count or connector style, this part is not compatible.
  • Mounting alignment is critical: The switch actuator must be positioned to engage at the correct point in the lift travel. Incorrect alignment can cause the motor to run past the endpoint or fail to release properly.
  • Genuine OEM part: Using non-OEM limit switches on HappiJac systems can result in incorrect switching thresholds, premature failure, or damage to the lift motor and drive components.
