Lippert 20" Crank Rod Slide-Out Repair Part Lippert 119143 Manual Slide-Out Crank with Roll Pin -- 20 Inch

When your RV slide-out motor fails or loses power, the Lippert 119143 manual crank lets you retract or extend your slide safely without a service call. This 20-inch crank rod is a direct replacement for Lippert rack-and-pinion slide-out systems and ships with the roll pin pre-installed for a drop-in swap.

Keep Your Slide Moving -- Even When Power Fails

Lippert rack-and-pinion slide-out systems are standard equipment on a wide range of travel trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes. The 119143 crank rod is the manual override component in that system -- it inserts into the gear housing and lets you hand-crank the slide in or out when the electric motor is unavailable.

At 20 inches in length with a 1.2-inch outer diameter, this crank provides enough leverage to move even larger slide rooms with manageable effort. The included roll pin locks the crank securely into the gear socket so it does not slip under load.

Manual Override

Retract or extend your slide without motor power -- essential for roadside emergencies or motor failures away from home.

Roll Pin Included

The roll pin ships installed. No extra hardware needed to seat the crank into your slide gear housing.

Direct Lippert Replacement

OEM Lippert part number 119143 -- a like-for-like swap for worn or damaged cranks on compatible rack-and-pinion systems.

Precision Dimensions

1.2" OD and 0.4055" ID are machined to Lippert rack-and-pinion tolerances for a secure, play-free fit in the gear socket.

What Is a Manual Slide-Out Crank?

Lippert electric slide-out systems include a manual override port on the gear housing. In normal use, the electric motor drives the rack-and-pinion mechanism. If the motor fails, a fuse blows, or your coach loses 12V power, you insert the manual crank rod into that port and turn it by hand. The roll pin engages the gear shaft and transfers your torque directly to the slide mechanism.

This crank is a maintenance spare and an emergency tool -- many RV owners keep one stowed in the coach at all times alongside a basic toolkit and their Lippert slide documentation.

Drop-In Compatibility: The 119143 is an OEM Lippert part designed for their rack-and-pinion slide-out systems. If your current crank measures approximately 20 inches and has a 1.2-inch OD shaft, the 119143 is your direct replacement. Confirm your system uses this crank size before ordering if you are unsure of your slide model.

Replacement Hairpin / Roll Pin

The roll pin secures the crank rod inside the gear housing port. Over time, pins can shear, corrode, or get lost during removal. If you only need the retaining pin and not the full crank rod, Lippert offers a replacement hairpin separately under part number 118106. Keep a spare -- losing the pin in the field means your crank cannot be secured during manual operation.

Replacement Hairpin (Roll Pin): Lippert part number 118106. Order separately if your crank rod is in good condition but the pin is damaged or missing.

When to Replace the Crank Rod

  • Shaft is bent, scored, or corroded and no longer seats cleanly in the gear housing port
  • The pin hole is elongated or wallowed out and the roll pin will not stay seated
  • The crank was lost or misplaced during travel or a previous repair
  • You are reconditioning a used slide-out gearbox to like-new condition
Storage Tip: Stow the manual crank in a dedicated spot -- a cargo bay bracket, tool bag, or hook near the slide control panel. In an emergency, you do not want to be searching for it. Label the storage location so anyone in your travel party can locate it quickly.
Torque Requirement: Manual cranking a large slide room takes real effort. On heavy or stiff slide rooms, use a corded or cordless drill with a socket adapter on the crank rather than hand-cranking -- many Lippert gearboxes accept this technique. Check your slide-out manual for your system's recommended manual override procedure before applying power tools.

Important Information
  • Confirm your existing crank measures 20 inches in length with a 1.2" OD before ordering -- Lippert offers crank rods in multiple lengths for different slide configurations.
  • The roll pin (hairpin) is required to secure the crank during use. Never operate the crank without the roll pin seated. Replacement pin is Lippert part 118106.
  • Do not force a slide-out that is obstructed, off-track, or has a seized gear -- manual cranking against an obstruction can damage the rack, pinion, or gear housing.
  • This crank is for manual override use only. It is not a substitute for diagnosing and repairing the root cause of slide-out motor or power failure.
  • When using a power drill to drive the crank, use low torque settings and watch the slide for binding or misalignment.
