If the surge module absorbs a damaging spike, the unit will continue to function normally — EPO auto-shutoff and Bluetooth monitoring will still work. You will still receive power to your RV. However, the surge protection circuit will no longer be active until the module is replaced. The LED indicator and/or the app will alert you when the module needs to be replaced. Replacement modules can be ordered directly from Hughes Autoformers. The PWD50-EPO (this listing) is the portable version — it plugs directly into the 50-amp pedestal outlet and your RV power cord plugs into it. No installation required, and you can take it with you between RVs. The PWD50-EPO-H is the hardwired version — it installs permanently inside your RV between the AC inlet and the electrical panel. It can never be forgotten at home and can't be stolen from the pedestal. Both versions offer identical protection levels and features.
