Mount a full-size spare on the outside of your trailer without drilling a single hole. The Camco 48474 clamps directly to the trailer tongue or A-frame and puts your spare tire where you can actually reach it -- not buried in a storage bay.
Most trailer owners end up tossing their spare inside the trailer -- burning floor space and making it impossible to access fast when you actually need it. The Camco 48474 Eaz-Lift Spare Tire Mount solves that by giving the spare a dedicated, secure home on the trailer tongue or frame rail, outside the living or cargo area.
Installation uses the included zinc-plated clamping hardware to grip the tongue or frame without drilling. The black powder-coated steel construction resists rust and holds up to road exposure, and the mount accommodates the most common trailer wheel bolt patterns so you are not hunting for an obscure adapter.
Clamp-style mounting attaches directly to the trailer tongue or frame rail -- no holes drilled, no structural compromise.
Black powder coat over steel resists corrosion and road grime mile after mile -- built for exterior exposure.
Fits 4 x 4", 5 x 4-1/2", and 5 x 4-3/4" bolt patterns -- covers the most popular trailer wheel standards.
Corrosion-resistant zinc-plated mounting bolts and clamp hardware are included -- ready to install out of the box.
The 48474 is designed for standard trailer tongues and A-frame rails. The clamp accommodates tongues and frame rails up to 6 inches tall and 3-1/2 inches wide. This covers the majority of utility, cargo, boat, and travel trailers with a conventional square or rectangular tongue section.
Compatible wheel bolt patterns include:
Check your spare wheel's bolt pattern and center bore before ordering. The mount secures the wheel and tire assembly -- a locking cap or cable lock is not included but can be added separately for security.
The clamp-and-bolt design means most installers can mount this in under 30 minutes with basic hand tools. Position the bracket on the tongue, thread the included zinc hardware, torque it down, and hang the spare. No welding, no drilling, no fabrication.
The mount brackets onto the tongue or front frame rail of the trailer. This keeps the spare ahead of or below the main cargo area and accessible from ground level. It works on A-frame tongues, straight-draw tongues, and similar profiles within the 6" x 3.5" size limit.
Before installing, verify the mounted spare will clear the tow vehicle's rear bumper and hitch receiver during tight turns. On shorter trailers with close tongue-to-bumper distances, measure the swing radius at full steering lock. Also confirm the added tongue weight of the spare and wheel falls within your trailer's tongue weight rating.
A mounted spare tire and wheel assembly typically adds 30-60 lb to tongue weight depending on tire size. Factor this into your hitch's tongue weight rating and your tow vehicle's limits before installation. Do not exceed the trailer manufacturer's tongue weight specification.
Inspect the clamp hardware for tightness every few months or after extended highway travel -- vibration can work bolts loose over time. Reapply a thin coat of anti-seize or spray lubricant to the zinc hardware annually to prevent galvanic binding between dissimilar metals. If the powder coat chips, touch it up promptly with a rust-inhibiting paint to protect the steel underneath.
