The factory-matched replacement tongue ball and mounting plate for the Eaz-Lift Sway Control system. Keeps your sway control anchor point solid and corrosion-resistant, whether you are restoring a worn assembly or setting up a new trailer tongue configuration on the driver or passenger side.
The tongue ball and plate assembly is the foundation of the Eaz-Lift Sway Control system. It mounts directly to the trailer tongue and provides the fixed ball socket that the sway control bar clips into during travel. When this component is bent, corroded, or missing hardware, the entire sway control system loses its effectiveness.
Camco part number 48388 is the genuine Eaz-Lift replacement for this assembly -- not an aftermarket knockoff. The plate arrives pre-punched with mounting holes so there is no drilling required during installation. The powder-coat finish protects the carbon steel base against road spray, salt, and moisture that trailer tongues are routinely exposed to.
Designed specifically for the Eaz-Lift Sway Control system. No adaptation or fabrication needed -- drop-in replacement for the original tongue ball and plate.
Compatible with both driver-side (left) and passenger-side (right) sway control installations on the trailer tongue.
Holes are factory-punched into the plate so installation is straightforward. Use the appropriate hardware for your tongue material and thickness.
Heavy-gauge carbon steel with a powder-coat finish resists rust and road grime across seasons of towing use.
The Eaz-Lift Sway Control system uses a friction bar to damp side-to-side trailer sway during towing. One end of that friction bar attaches to a ball on the hitch head; the other end connects to the tongue ball on the trailer. The 48388 tongue ball and plate is the trailer-side anchor. Without a solid, properly mounted tongue ball, the sway control bar cannot generate the corrective friction that stabilizes the trailer.
This part is commonly needed when:
This plate is designed to work on either side of the trailer tongue. Position it on the driver side or passenger side depending on your tow vehicle hitch configuration and the routing of your sway control bar. Most single sway control setups mount to the driver (left) side.
The 48388 plate ships without mounting screws or bolts. Use grade-5 or grade-8 hardware appropriate for your trailer tongue wall thickness. Common sizes are 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch bolts, but verify against your tongue dimensions before ordering fasteners. Carriage bolts or hex bolts with lock nuts are typically recommended for this application.
Inspect the tongue ball socket and plate annually or at the start of each towing season. Look for elongated mounting holes, cracks near the ball base, or heavy corrosion on the plate surface. A compromised plate reduces sway control effectiveness even if the friction bar itself is in good condition. Touch up any chips in the powder coat with a rust-inhibiting primer to extend service life.
