Camco 1" x 100' Roll UV-Resistant Vinyl Camco 25212 Black Vinyl Trim Insert -- Aluminum Roof Edge and Trim Molding Replacement

Restore the finished look of your RV or truck camper in an afternoon. The Camco 25212 slides directly into existing aluminum trim extrusions to replace cracked, faded, stained, or shrunk vinyl inserts -- no special tools, no drilling, no resealing the channel.

Stop Living with Ugly, Cracked Trim

Most RV aluminum trim molding is a two-piece system: a permanently fastened aluminum extrusion and a vinyl insert that slides into the channel to provide the finished color and weather seal. Over time, UV exposure, temperature cycling, and simple age cause that vinyl insert to crack, fade, shrink, or stain. The aluminum extrusion itself is almost always fine -- what needs to be replaced is just the insert.

The Camco 25212 gives you 100 linear feet of fresh black vinyl insert in a single roll. That is enough to address the full roof edge perimeter of most Class A or Class C motorhomes, plus slide-out trim channels and truck camper cap edges in a single purchase. The insert is 1 inch wide and approximately 1.25mm thick, matching the standard channel profile used on a wide range of OEM aluminum trim extrusions.

Slides In Without Tools

Flexible vinyl profile presses or slides into the aluminum channel by hand. No adhesives, screws, or special installation tools required.

UV Inhibitors Built In

Formulated with UV stabilizers to resist fading and surface cracking from prolonged sun exposure -- critical for exposed roofline trim.

100-Foot Roll

Enough to complete most full-rig trim refresh projects in a single purchase. Cut to any length with scissors or a utility knife.

Broad Fitment

Fits standard 1" aluminum trim extrusions found on motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and truck camper shells.

What Is the Vinyl Insert Actually Doing?

Beyond aesthetics, the vinyl insert sits in the channel and provides a finished edge that helps prevent debris, water, and insects from working under the molding. When the insert shrinks or cracks, gaps form that can allow water to wick under the aluminum extrusion and begin compromising the substrate below. Replacing a worn insert promptly is basic preventive maintenance -- not just a cosmetic fix.

Installation Overview

  • Remove the existing vinyl insert by pulling it out of the channel -- it should release with firm, steady pressure. A plastic pry tool helps on stubborn sections.
  • Clean the channel with a damp cloth and allow it to dry completely.
  • Cut the new Camco 25212 insert to the required length with scissors or a sharp utility knife.
  • Starting at one end, press the insert into the channel and work along its length by hand. Warm vinyl (leave the roll in the sun briefly on cold days) seats more easily.
  • Trim any excess flush at corners or ends.

Typical RV Applications

The 25212 is most commonly used on:

  • Roof edge drip rail molding on Class A, Class B+, and Class C motorhomes
  • Slide-out trim channels on travel trailers and fifth wheels
  • Aluminum body molding strips along sidewalls and front caps
  • Truck camper cap edge trim on aluminum-framed shells
  • Cargo trailer door frame trim and ramp door edge molding

Fitment Note -- Measure Your Channel First

The 25212 is designed for standard 1-inch-wide aluminum trim channel extrusions. Before purchasing, measure the width of the channel opening (not the outer face of the molding) to confirm a 1" insert is correct. Camco and other suppliers also offer inserts in different widths (3/4", 1-1/4", 1-1/2") for other extrusion profiles. If your existing insert is black and 1" wide, this is the correct replacement.

Camco Part Number Cross-Reference

The Camco 25212 is sold under vendor/distributor part number 20-1493. UPC: 014717252126. It is the black colorway in Camco's vinyl trim insert line. White and other color variants carry different part numbers.

Maintenance Tips

  • Inspect roof edge and sidewall trim inserts annually, ideally before and after winter storage.
  • Look for cracking, shrinkage gaps at seams, discoloration, or sections that have partially pulled out of the channel.
  • Apply a UV protectant to the vinyl annually to extend service life after replacement.
  • On corners, use a heat gun on a low setting to soften the insert slightly for a tighter, gap-free fit around the radius.

Important Information

  • Verify channel width before ordering. This insert is sized for 1-inch-wide aluminum trim channels. Installing an insert that is too wide will not seat fully; too narrow and it will not grip. Measure your existing insert or channel opening directly.
  • Color match. This is the black colorway only. If your existing trim is white, tan, or another color, a different Camco part number is required.
  • Not a structural sealant. This insert restores the finished appearance of trim molding and helps block debris, but it is not a substitute for properly applied lap sealant where the aluminum extrusion meets the roof or sidewall substrate. Inspect and reapply sealant at the extrusion base as part of any trim maintenance.
  • Cold-weather installation. Below approximately 50 deg F, vinyl becomes stiffer and more prone to kinking during installation. Warm the roll in direct sunlight or with a heat gun on a low setting before working with it in cold conditions.
  • This product replaces the vinyl insert only. It does not include or replace the aluminum extrusion/molding channel itself.
