The Olympian Wave-8 is a flameless, fanless catalytic propane heater engineered specifically for RV use. It runs entirely without electricity, draws zero amps from your battery, and delivers clean, quiet radiant heat from 4,200 up to 8,000 BTU per hour -- enough to keep up to 290 square feet comfortable even on cold desert nights or at elevations up to 12,000 feet. Mount it permanently to a wall or use it as a portable unit. Either way, it starts reliably every time thanks to a built-in Piezo igniter rated for 20,000 starts.
Conventional flame heaters lose up to 45% of their produced heat through combustion waste. The Wave-8 uses a catalytic heating panel that converts propane to heat at 99.98% efficiency -- meaning virtually every BTU you pay for ends up warming your rig, not venting out a flue. There is no open flame, no chimney, and no blower noise. You get steady, even radiant warmth in near-total silence.
The Wave-8 is the largest in Camco's Olympian Wave series, stepping up from the Wave-3 (3,000 BTU) and Wave-6 (6,000 BTU max). It is the right choice when you need a primary heat source for a mid-size RV slide-out or living area, or a powerful backup to a furnace that is undersized for extreme cold.
Zero volts, zero amps. The Wave-8 runs entirely on LP gas with a self-contained Piezo ignition system -- no 12V hookup, no shore power, no battery drain.
No open flame, no flue, no chimney required. The catalytic surface glows and radiates heat safely at operating temperatures well below ignition point.
Dial output continuously between 4,200 and 8,000 BTU/hr to match conditions. Run low for overnight comfort or full power to warm a cold space quickly.
A built-in ODS (oxygen depletion sensor) and 100% safety shut-off valve cut the gas supply automatically if ignition fails, preventing unburned propane discharge.
The Wave-8 ships ready for either installation style. When wall-mounted, it becomes a fixed supplemental or primary heating source. When used portable, it can be moved between the living area, a workshop, or a garage. The low-pressure regulator input is compatible with standard 1-pound propane canisters via adapter or with the RV's onboard LP system using a proper hose and regulator assembly.
Catalytic heaters consume oxygen and produce water vapor and trace CO2 as byproducts of combustion. The Wave-8 must be used only in a vented area with adequate fresh air exchange. For RV use, this typically means cracking a window or vent -- standard practice consistent with any propane appliance.
The built-in automatic Piezo electric sparker eliminates the need for a lighter or match. Rated for 20,000 starts, it provides reliable ignition across the heater's entire service life under typical use. No batteries are required -- the Piezo is a purely mechanical spark generator.
