When temperatures drop below freezing, a standard garden hose or even a basic drinking water hose will fail you. The Camco 22911 TastePURE Heated Hose uses a built-in self-regulating heating element to keep water flowing safely all the way down to -20F -- without any manual thermostats or timers to set. It is built for RV hookups at campgrounds and RV parks where water pedestal temperatures and ambient cold can combine to freeze unprotected lines in hours.
The Camco 22911 is a 25-foot version of Camco's well-established TastePURE Heated Hose line, designed specifically for full-timers, winter campers, and anyone parking their rig in below-freezing conditions. The hose combines a food-grade, kink-resistant inner tube with a self-regulating heat cable embedded along its length -- meaning the cable automatically increases heat output in colder zones and backs off in warmer zones, using only as much electricity as conditions actually require.
The 5/8" inside diameter matches the standard garden-hose thread fittings found at virtually every campground water pedestal and RV inlet, so no adapters are needed for typical hookups. Both ends terminate in 3/4" GHT (garden hose thread) brass fittings. The outer jacket is rugged enough to handle being dragged across gravel pads and frozen ground.
Automatically adjusts heat output based on ambient temperature -- no thermostat to set, no timer needed.
Keeps water moving in severe winter conditions, rated for continuous use down to -20 degrees Fahrenheit.
Lead-free, BPA-free, and phthalate-free construction. Safe for drinking water in RVs, cabins, and job sites.
Reaches most campground pedestals from a standard RV water inlet without daisy-chaining multiple hoses.
Unlike simple resistance heating cables that run at a fixed wattage regardless of conditions, the TastePURE heated hose uses a self-regulating polymer matrix. In colder sections of the hose -- say, where it lies against frozen ground -- the cable puts out more heat. In warmer sections near the pedestal or near the RV inlet, it automatically reduces output. This prevents hot spots, reduces energy waste, and eliminates the risk of overheating that can degrade hose materials over time.
The power cord integrated into the hose terminates in a standard 120V AC three-prong plug. Simply run the plug to the closest GFCI-protected outdoor outlet at your campsite -- which virtually all modern RV park pedestals provide -- and the hose manages the rest automatically.
The inner tube of the TastePURE hose is manufactured from a food-grade, NSF-listed polymer compound that is free of lead, BPA, and phthalates. It will not impart taste or odor to your water supply, which is Camco's baseline requirement for anything carrying the TastePURE name. Safe for drinking water, cooking water, and ice maker connections.
Both inlet and outlet fittings are 3/4" GHT (garden hose thread), which is the universal standard for North American campground pedestals and RV fresh water inlets. The fittings are brass construction, which resists corrosion better than plastic and provides a solid seal with a standard rubber washer. Replacement washers are available separately (Camco 20663 or similar).
The heated hose requires a standard 120V AC grounded outlet. Power draw is relatively low for a 25 ft hose -- typical self-regulating heat cables in this class consume approximately 3 to 9 watts per foot depending on ambient temperature, meaning the full 25 ft hose may draw roughly 75 to 225 watts at peak. Actual draw will be lower in milder conditions because the cable self-regulates. Always plug into a GFCI-protected outdoor outlet. Do not use an extension cord unless it is a heavy-duty outdoor-rated cord of 12 AWG or heavier and as short as possible.
The outer jacket of the 22911 is designed to remain flexible in cold temperatures -- a critical requirement since many hoses that are technically rated for low temperatures still stiffen and kink when dragged into position on a frozen morning. The jacket construction helps the hose retain enough flexibility to coil, route around obstacles, and lay flat without pinching off flow.
The hose can be left connected during extended stays in cold weather without risk of damage from freeze-thaw cycles, as long as it remains powered. When you disconnect and store it, drain it fully before coiling to prevent residual water from freezing inside and stressing the liner or fittings.
