Samlex America 1000W Pure Sine Wave NTX Series Samlex NTX-1000-12 -- 1000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter, 12V DC to 120V AC

When your RV, boat, or off-grid cabin needs clean, utility-quality AC power from a 12V battery bank, the Samlex NTX-1000-12 delivers. Pure sine wave output means sensitive electronics -- CPAP machines, laptops, flat-screen TVs, variable-speed tools, and medical devices -- run smoothly without the buzz, heat, or performance issues caused by modified sine wave alternatives. The NTX Series is Samlex's purpose-built RV and marine inverter line, engineered for reliable continuous duty with robust surge capacity and a compact footprint.

Clean Power for Everything You Plug In

The NTX-1000-12 sits at the 1000W continuous tier of the NTX Series lineup -- the sweet spot for RVers and boaters who need more than a pocket inverter can offer but aren't ready to wire in a full 2000W+ system. At 1000 watts continuous and a 2000-watt peak surge rating, it handles the startup demands of small appliances, power tools, and inductive loads without nuisance tripping.

Pure sine wave output is not a marketing term here -- it is a technical necessity for many loads RV owners carry. CPAP and BiPAP machines with heated humidifiers, newer laptop chargers with active power factor correction, induction cooktops, and audio equipment all require or strongly prefer a pure sine wave source. The NTX-1000-12 produces less than 3% total harmonic distortion (THD), matching the quality of shore power or a generator.

Pure Sine Wave Output

Less than 3% THD -- safe for CPAP machines, laptops, medical devices, and variable-speed motors that modified sine wave inverters can damage or disrupt.

2000W Surge Capacity

Handles the startup spike of compressors, power tools, and other inductive loads at twice the continuous rated wattage -- 2000W peak keeps the inverter running through motor startup.

Built-In USB Charging Port

5V USB-A output lets you charge phones and tablets directly from the inverter without occupying one of the AC outlets -- a practical convenience in cramped RV installations.

Low No-Load Draw

NTX Series inverters are designed with an economy standby mode that drops idle current draw significantly, preserving battery capacity when appliances are not actively running.

Where the NTX-1000-12 Fits in the Samlex NTX Lineup

The Samlex NTX Series is a family of pure sine wave inverters designed for 12V and 24V DC systems, spanning from 300W up through 3000W. The NTX-1000-12 is the 1000W, 12V member of that family. Other models in the series include the NTX-600-12 (600W/12V), NTX-1500-12 (1500W/12V), NTX-2000-12 (2000W/12V), and 24V variants with equivalent wattage ratings. If your RV has a 24V house bank, look at the NTX-1000-24 instead. The shared NTX platform means identical mounting hole patterns across the lineup, so upgrading to a higher-wattage model later does not require new mounting hardware.

Ideal RV and Marine Applications
  • CPAP / BiPAP machines with heated humidifiers (typically 300-600W running, 1000W+ startup)
  • Laptop computers and workstations for full-timers and remote workers
  • 32-inch to 55-inch flat-screen TVs and streaming devices
  • Small kitchen appliances -- blenders, single-cup coffee makers, toasters
  • Power tools on the jobsite or at camp -- drills, jigsaws, small circular saws
  • Gaming consoles and entertainment systems
  • Satellite internet terminals (Starlink draw is approximately 50-75W running)
  • Battery chargers for power tool packs and e-bikes

Installation Overview

The NTX-1000-12 connects directly to a 12V battery bank using the included cable set with ring terminals. Samlex recommends 2 AWG cable for runs up to approximately 6 feet between the battery and inverter -- longer runs require heavier gauge to avoid voltage drop under load. A properly sized inline fuse or ANL fuse holder (150A recommended for the 1000W model) should be installed as close to the battery positive terminal as possible.

The inverter can be mounted horizontally or vertically in a well-ventilated compartment. The internal cooling fan is thermostatically controlled -- it only runs when the inverter is under load or the internal temperature rises, keeping the unit quiet during light use. Avoid mounting in sealed enclosures or directly against insulation. Minimum clearance of 2 inches on all sides is recommended for airflow.

Wiring Note: At 1000W continuous output from a 12V bank, the inverter will draw approximately 90-100 amps DC at full load (accounting for conversion efficiency). Plan your battery bank and cable sizing accordingly. A 100Ah lithium battery can sustain near-full output for approximately 1 hour; a 200Ah AGM bank will handle shorter bursts. Always fuse within 18 inches of the battery positive terminal.

Protection and Safety Features

The NTX-1000-12 includes a full suite of automatic protections that shut down the inverter and alert the user before damage occurs:

  • Low battery voltage shutdown -- disconnects at approximately 10.5V DC to protect lead-acid and lithium batteries from over-discharge
  • High battery voltage shutdown -- protects against overcharge conditions above approximately 15.5V DC
  • Overload protection -- shuts off output if continuous load exceeds rated capacity
  • Short circuit protection -- instantaneous shutdown on output short, with auto-reset capability
  • Over-temperature protection -- thermal shutdown before component damage occurs, with automatic restart after cooling
  • Reverse polarity protection -- internal fuse protects the unit if DC cables are accidentally reversed during installation
Maintenance Tips
  • Inspect DC cable connections every season -- corrosion at ring terminals is the most common cause of inverter shutdowns and reduced output.
  • Blow out the cooling vents with compressed air once a year, or more often in dusty environments.
  • Check that the ANL or inline fuse is properly rated and not showing signs of heat stress at the fuse holder.
  • If the inverter trips on overload, audit your connected loads before resetting -- do not simply reset and retry without identifying what exceeded the 1000W limit.
Recommended Accessories
  • 150A ANL fuse and holder for proper DC overcurrent protection
  • 2 AWG or 4 AWG battery interconnect cable set (size to your run length)
  • Samlex RC-15A remote on/off panel for convenient inverter switching from inside the RV
  • Battery monitor shunt to track state of charge when running the inverter off a house bank

Important Information -- Read Before Installing
  • This inverter requires a 12V DC battery bank. It is NOT compatible with 24V systems -- use the NTX-1000-24 for 24V applications.
  • Always install an ANL fuse or equivalent inline DC fuse rated for 150A within 18 inches of the battery positive terminal. Failure to fuse the DC input is a fire hazard.
  • Do not install in an enclosed, unventilated space. The thermostatically controlled fan requires open airflow on all sides. High ambient temperatures reduce output capacity and lifespan.
  • Maximum continuous load is 1000 watts. Exceeding this will trigger overload protection. Check appliance wattage labels before connecting -- surge (startup) watts on motor loads can be 2x to 3x the running wattage.
  • This product converts stored DC battery energy to AC power. It is not a battery charger. Connect to shore power or a solar/generator charging system separately to replenish your battery bank.
  • Do not operate near flammable gases or in wet environments. Batteries can off-gas hydrogen during charging -- ensure the battery compartment is vented independently from the inverter installation area.
  • Reverse polarity connection will blow the internal fuse -- verify positive and negative connections before energizing the unit.
