The Whitecap G-8640SSC is a heavy-duty stainless steel gas spring designed to assist with lifting and holding compatible doors, hatches, and access panels. Its 316 stainless steel construction provides excellent corrosion resistance for RV, trailer, and marine environments where moisture and weather exposure are common.
This model provides a 40 lb P1 force rating and uses an 8 mm rod with an 18 mm cylinder. Internal hydraulic fluid provides controlled movement and end-of-travel damping, while ball-socket end fittings allow attachment to compatible ball-stud mounting hardware.

Gas springs should be replaced with the correct extended length, compressed length, mounting style, and force rating. Installing a spring with excessive or insufficient force can prevent proper operation or damage the door, hatch, hinges, or mounting hardware.
