Flat Tow 7-Way to 4-Way Coiled Cable

Blue Ox BX88254 7-Way (RV) to 4-Way (Towed Vehicle) Coiled Cable

Heavy-duty coiled umbilical that connects your motorhome’s 7-way blade to a 4-way flat on the towed vehicle—clean routing, solid contact, and strain relief for flat-towing.

Overview

The Blue Ox BX88254 is a premium coiled lighting cable that adapts the 7-way RV blade connector on your coach to a 4-way flat on the towed vehicle. The coiled jacket stays off the pavement during turns, while molded plugs and corrosion-resistant contacts deliver reliable stop/turn/tail signal transfer mile after mile.

Key Features

  • 7-Way RV Blade → 4-Way Flat: Simple interface for toad light wiring kits that terminate in a 4-flat.
  • Coiled Jacket: Helps prevent dragging, kinking, and tangles; retracts neatly when disconnected.
  • Molded Ends & Strain Relief: Resists moisture intrusion and plug fatigue.
  • Corrosion-Resistant Contacts: Consistent signal transfer for stop/turn/tail and running lights.
  • Road-Ready Durability: Flexible in hot/cold weather, abrasion-resistant outer jacket.
  • Plug-and-Play: No splicing at the coach end—just plug into the 7-way.

What It Powers (4-Flat Functions)

  • Ground
  • Tail / Running Lights
  • Left Turn / Stop
  • Right Turn / Stop

Note: 4-flat does not include charge line, reverse, or electric brake circuits. For those, use a 6-way or 7-way to the toad.

Installation

  1. Plug the 7-way blade end into the RV’s trailer socket at the rear of the coach.
  2. Route the coiled section above the tow bar, avoiding sharp edges or hot exhaust.
  3. Plug the 4-flat into the towed vehicle’s lighting kit pigtail.
  4. Test running lights, left/right turn, and brake at the toad before driving.
Pro tip: Add a small loop of Velcro or a tow-bar clip at mid-span so the coil stays centered and off the ground on tight turns.

FAQs

Will this power my toad battery or brakes?
No. A 4-flat carries lighting only. For charge line, reverse, or electric brake signals, use 6- or 7-way wiring and the appropriate harness.
Do I need a specific Blue Ox baseplate?
No. Lighting connection is independent of baseplate brand; just ensure your toad harness ends in a 4-flat.
Is the coil long enough for wide-track turns?
Yes for most setups. If your tow bar is unusually long or you run a drop hitch with big offsets, choose a longer coil or a straight-lead extension.
