Compact standard PMDC replacement motor for the BAL Accu-Slide Expandable Room cable-driven slide-out system. 12V DC, 3/16" single output shaft, 12 RPM, 45W. Motor only — gearbox (R25076) not included. Two-bolt, two-wire installation. 90-day limited warranty.
The BAL R25074 is the compact standard PMDC (permanent magnet DC) replacement motor for the BAL Accu-Slide Expandable Room system — the cable-driven slide-out found across a wide range of Keystone, Forest River, Coachmen, Heartland, and other RV brands. When the motor fails — typically from corrosion, prolonged exposure to moisture, worn brushes, or simply age — the R25074 provides a direct bolt-in replacement that restores slide-out operation with minimal effort.
The R25074 is the motor-only component. It mounts to the existing R25076 gearbox (also called the gear housing) that remains in place on the slide-out wall. The motor's 3/16" output shaft engages the gearbox input, which in turn drives the chain-and-cable mechanism to extend and retract the slide room. Installation is straightforward: two bolts and two wires. With an on-hand R25074 as a spare, a field motor failure can be resolved in under 30 minutes — getting you back on the road or keeping camp running without a dealer visit.
Straightforward motor-only replacement — two mounting bolts secure the motor to the existing gearbox; two wires connect to the controller harness
3/16" PMDC output shaft engages the existing R25076 gearbox input — exact original specification for proper torque transfer
Compact and efficient 45-watt motor runs directly from the RV's 12-volt house battery system through the Accu-Slide controller
Compact, lightweight motor is easy to keep as an on-board spare — the most failure-prone component in the Accu-Slide system and a quick field fix
The BAL Accu-Slide cable-driven system uses a motor-and-gearbox assembly mounted inside the RV wall above the slide-out room. Understanding the component breakdown helps confirm the correct replacement: R25074 (this product) — Motor only (compact standard): The PMDC motor that provides the rotational force. Mounts to the R25076 gearbox with two bolts. The motor's 3/16" output shaft drives into the gearbox input. Replace the motor when the gearbox is undamaged but the motor itself has failed. R25076 / R25076-1 — Gearbox (gear housing) only: The gearbox that converts motor rotation into the chain drive that pulls the Accu-Slide cables. Replace separately if the motor is functional but the gearbox is stripped or damaged. P22327 — Complete motor + gearbox kit (high-torque, 182:1): The complete assembly combining motor and gearbox. Order when both components need replacement or when upgrading to the higher-torque version. R25075 — High-output motor only (upgrade): A higher-output motor alternative to the R25074. Same 3/16" shaft and bolt pattern — fits the same R25076 gearbox but provides more torque for heavier or more problematic slide-out rooms. Note: Each Accu-Slide slide-out room uses two motors — one on each side. Replace both if both have failed, or just the faulty one if the other is functional. After replacement, reset the controller memory per the Accu-Slide service manual to ensure proper synchronized operation.
The R25074 is the motor only. The gearbox (R25076 or R25076-1) is a separate component and is NOT included with this motor. Before ordering, confirm whether your gearbox is damaged. If the gearbox is undamaged and only the motor has failed, the R25074 is the correct replacement. If the gearbox is also stripped or damaged, order the complete P22327 kit (motor + gearbox) instead. Each Accu-Slide room uses two motors. If one motor fails and the room racks (one side moves, the other doesn't), only the failed side's motor needs replacement. Test each motor individually using the controller's M1 IN and M2 IN buttons to confirm which motor is at fault before ordering. After motor replacement, reset the Accu-Slide controller memory per the BAL service manual to prevent synchronization errors. Operating with an unsynced controller after motor replacement may cause uneven room travel. Do NOT use an impact driver when removing or installing motor mounting hardware — use a cordless drill or hand tools only to avoid stripping the mounting threads in the gearbox housing.
Tools Needed: Cordless drill or hand screwdriver (no impact driver), basic wrenches Key Installation Steps: 1. Retract the slide-out fully before beginning any work 2. Disconnect the RV from shore power and isolate the house battery to prevent accidental slide operation during service 3. Remove the interior trim panel above the slide-out to expose the motor and gearbox assembly mounted on the wall 4. Disconnect the two wires from the failed motor — note wire colors and positions for reconnection 5. Remove the two mounting bolts securing the motor to the R25076 gearbox — use a drill or hand tool, not an impact driver 6. Pull the R25074 motor away from the gearbox, disengaging the 3/16" output shaft from the gearbox input 7. Insert the new R25074 motor — align the 3/16" output shaft with the gearbox input and seat the motor flush against the gearbox mounting face 8. Install the two mounting bolts and tighten securely 9. Reconnect the two wires in the same polarity as the original 10. Reset controller memory per BAL service manual, restore power, and test both in and out directions before closing up the trim panel
Included: • R25074 compact PMDC motor • Two mounting bolts • Replacement output shaft NOT Included — May Need Separately: • R25076 / R25076-1 — Gearbox housing (replace if gearbox is stripped or damaged alongside the motor) • P22327 — Complete high-torque motor + gearbox kit (order if both motor and gearbox need replacement, or for higher torque) • R25075 — High-output motor upgrade (same bolt pattern — order instead of R25074 for more torque on heavy or problematic slides) • 22305 — Stainless steel cable repair kit (if cables are broken or frayed in addition to motor failure) • Flex shaft with #3 square drive bit (for manual override if needed during disassembly)

If the motor makes noise when energized but the slide room doesn't move, the gearbox (R25076) is the more likely culprit — the motor is running but not transferring rotation into the chain drive. Confirm with a visual inspection of the gearbox sprocket before replacing the motor.
The R25074 and R25075 motors share the same 3/16" shaft and two-bolt mounting pattern — either can be fitted to the R25076 gearbox. If your R25074 motor has failed prematurely or your slide room is difficult to move, the R25075 high-output motor is a worthwhile upgrade that delivers more torque in the same compact footprint.
