In a through-frame slide-out, the drive shaft passes through the main frame rail of the RV rather than mounting externally. This design keeps the mechanism protected and compact, but it also means the motor and drive assembly are tightly integrated. A failed motor cannot simply be bypassed -- the room stays locked out or in until the motor is replaced.
The F-300 motor drives the internal shaft that pushes or pulls the slide room on its track. When operating normally it should move the room smoothly and stop cleanly when the limit switches engage.
