Lippert Klauber F-300 12V DC Lippert 321395 -- Klauber F-300 3/4" Drive Motor for Electric Through-Frame Slide-Outs

A direct-replacement 12V DC drive motor engineered for Lippert electric through-frame slide-out systems. Fits 2x2 and 2.5x2.5 tube configurations and also replaces the Venture M-9800 motor. If your slide-out is moving slowly, stalling, or not responding, this is the first component to diagnose and replace.

The Right Motor for Your Through-Frame Slide System

The Klauber F-300 is the drive motor at the heart of Lippert's electric through-frame slide-out mechanism. It converts 12V DC power into rotational torque that drives the rack-and-pinion or lead-screw assembly to extend and retract your room. When the motor wears out -- whether from age, corrosion, or overloading -- the entire slide-out loses function or becomes sluggish and unreliable.

Lippert part number 321395 is the OEM-specified replacement motor for these systems. It also cross-references to the Venture M-9800, making it the go-to motor for multiple RV brands and floor plans built on this platform. Installation is a bolt-in procedure for anyone comfortable working with basic hand tools and RV electrical connections.

12V DC Operation

Runs directly from the coach 12V house battery system -- no converter or inverter required during slide operation.

3/4" Drive Shaft

Standard 3/4" output shaft interfaces directly with the through-frame gear assembly on 2x2 and 2.5x2.5 systems.

OEM Fitment

Lippert factory-specified part for electric through-frame slide-out units. Plug-and-play replacement with no modifications needed.

Cross-References Venture M-9800

Directly replaces the Venture M-9800 motor, expanding compatibility across multiple RV brands using that platform.

What "Through-Frame" Means -- and Why the Motor Matters

In a through-frame slide-out, the drive shaft passes through the main frame rail of the RV rather than mounting externally. This design keeps the mechanism protected and compact, but it also means the motor and drive assembly are tightly integrated. A failed motor cannot simply be bypassed -- the room stays locked out or in until the motor is replaced.

The F-300 motor drives the internal shaft that pushes or pulls the slide room on its track. When operating normally it should move the room smoothly and stop cleanly when the limit switches engage. Signs that the motor is failing include grinding or clicking noises, one-directional operation only, slow or inconsistent movement, or complete failure to respond to the switch.

Direct Replacement -- No Fabrication Required

This motor mounts in the existing motor bracket using the original hardware. The electrical connector is compatible with the factory wiring harness on Lippert through-frame systems. Retain all original hardware during removal for reinstallation.

Diagnosing the Motor Before You Order

Before replacing the motor, confirm it is actually the failed component:

  • Check battery voltage at the motor connector under load -- should be 11.5V or higher.
  • Apply 12V directly to motor leads with the motor removed. If it does not spin, the motor is failed.
  • If the motor spins freely but the slide does not move, the issue is mechanical -- gear wear, stripped shaft, or broken drive pin.
  • If the motor hums but does not rotate, the armature may be seized or the brushes worn.
  • Inspect the motor mounting bracket for cracks or corrosion that could cause intermittent contact.

What Is and Is Not Included

This listing includes the Klauber F-300 drive motor (Lippert 321395) only. Mounting hardware, wiring harness, gear assembly, limit switches, and control board are not included. If your wiring connector is damaged, inspect and repair it before installing the new motor to avoid repeat failure.

Installation Overview

Installation difficulty is moderate and typically completed in under an hour with basic tools. General process:

  • Retract the slide-out fully before beginning -- never work with a room partially extended.
  • Disconnect coach 12V power or pull the slide-out fuse/breaker before removing the motor.
  • Access the motor through the exterior compartment or underbelly panel near the slide mechanism.
  • Disconnect the motor wiring connector and remove the mounting bolts (typically two or four fasteners).
  • Slide the motor off the drive shaft, noting orientation for reinstallation.
  • Seat the new motor onto the shaft, align mounting holes, and secure with original hardware.
  • Reconnect the wiring, restore power, and cycle the slide in and out to verify operation.

Battery Voltage During Operation

Slide-out motors draw significant amperage during operation. Low battery voltage (below 11V under load) is a common cause of motor failure and sluggish room movement. Ensure your house batteries are fully charged and in good condition before and after motor replacement. Running the slide repeatedly on a weak battery can damage the new motor.

Maintenance Tips to Extend Motor Life

Keep the motor and drive assembly clean and dry. Inspect the motor mounting area annually for moisture intrusion -- through-frame systems can accumulate water if seals or belly wrap are compromised. Lubricate the drive shaft and rack per Lippert's recommended service interval. Never force the slide manually while it is electrically connected.

Related Components to Inspect

When replacing the drive motor, it is good practice to inspect the following at the same time:

  • Motor mounting bracket for cracks or rust
  • Wiring harness connector pins for corrosion or spread contacts
  • Drive shaft coupler or keyway for wear
  • Limit switches -- confirm they actuate cleanly at full extend and retract
  • Slide control board -- a shorted motor can sometimes damage the board

Important Information -- Read Before Installing

  • Disconnect 12V coach power or pull the slide-out fuse before removing or installing the motor. Failure to do so risks electrical shock and damage to the control board.
  • Always fully retract the slide room before beginning any work on the drive motor or mechanism.
  • Do not operate the slide on a partially engaged motor or with the drive shaft improperly seated -- this can damage the gear assembly and require a more expensive repair.
  • Low battery voltage is the leading cause of premature motor failure. Confirm batteries are in good condition before placing the room back in service.
  • This motor is for electric through-frame systems only -- it will not fit hydraulic, cable-driven, or in-wall (SchwinTek) slide-out systems.
  • Retain and reuse OEM mounting hardware. Using incorrect fastener lengths can strip the motor housing or misalign the drive shaft.
