CarCover 5-Ply Top / 3-Ply Sides Lifetime Warranty Gold Shield 5L Class B RV Cover -- Fits 18 to 20 Foot Motorhomes

The Gold Shield 5L is CarCover's premium all-season storage cover engineered specifically for Class B motorhomes and camper vans in the 18-to-20-foot range. A heavy-duty 5-ply top panel and 3-ply side panels team up with a breathable micro-porous film to block rain, UV, snow, and debris -- without trapping the moisture that causes mildew and rot. Zippered access panels, elasticized hems, and adjustable buckles mean you get a secure fit without wrestling the cover off every time you need inside.

All-Season Defense Built for Class B Rigs

Class B vans and camper vans sit low and compact, but they still take a beating from UV exposure, acid rain, tree sap, bird droppings, and hail during long-term storage. The Gold Shield 5L wraps that investment in layered, engineered fabric -- not a single-ply tarp. The 5-ply top combines UV-resistant polypropylene outer layers with an inner micro-porous film that lets water vapor escape while refusing liquid water entry. The 3-ply sides carry the same breathable film construction for complete perimeter protection.

At 25 lbs and a cover footprint of approximately 20.5 ft long x 7.08 ft wide x 8.08 ft tall, the 5RV-CB-1820 is sized to fit snugly over Class B bodies without excess fabric flapping in the wind. Adjustable buckle straps cinch out the slack, and the elasticized front and rear hems lock the corners down -- even in gusty conditions.

5-Ply Top Panel

UV-resistant polypropylene outer layers with a micro-porous inner film block sun, rain, snow, and hail while allowing interior moisture to escape.

3-Ply Side Panels

Reinforced side construction resists crosswind debris, side rain exposure, and UV degradation across the full height of the rig.

Zippered Access Panels

Reach doors, storage compartments, and hookups without removing the entire cover -- a real time-saver during short storage breaks.

Secure-Fit Hardware

Adjustable buckle straps remove wind billow, elastic hems grip front and rear corners, and weighted buckles simplify solo installation.

Breathable Construction -- Why It Matters

A non-breathable cover traps condensation between the fabric and your RV's exterior, creating the wet-dark environment where mildew, oxidation, and paint lifting thrive. The Gold Shield 5L's micro-porous film layer is the critical difference: pores large enough for water vapor molecules to pass through, small enough to stop liquid water droplets. The result is a cover that dries from the inside out, keeping your gel coat, graphics, and seals in better condition season after season.

Blocks 98%+ of Dust and Dirt

The dense multi-ply laminate filters out the fine particulate that scratches RV clearcoat during removal and re-application -- reducing how often you need to wash, polish, or wax the exterior during and after storage.

Protection Details That Matter at Install Time

  • Ladder cap: Fabric reinforcement at the ladder contact point prevents rips from sharp ladder rungs or edges.
  • Gutter guards: Reinforced gutter covers protect the fabric from tearing against rain gutter lips along the roofline.
  • Reflective panels: Reflective strips improve low-light visibility when the covered rig is parked in a driveway, campground, or roadside area.
  • Sun-reflective outer surface: Light gray color reflects solar heat, helping to reduce interior temperature buildup and slowing UV degradation of dashboard plastics and upholstery.
  • Reinforced double stitching: All seams are double-stitched for long-term durability under repeated tension from wind and installation cycles.
  • Extended top overlap: The top panel runs down the sides an extra few inches, closing off the gap where vertical side panels meet the roof and improving rain runoff coverage.
Fits Class B Motorhomes and Camper Vans -- Not Class A or Class C

This cover is cut for the lower-profile, narrower body of a Class B van-based motorhome. It is NOT designed for the taller cab-over nose of a Class C or the wide body of a Class A. Verify your rig's length, width, and height against the cover dimensions before ordering.

Storage and Warranty

The 5RV-CB-1820 ships with a drawstring storage bag that keeps the cover organized between uses, and a patch kit for field repairs if the fabric sustains minor damage. CarCover backs this cover with a lifetime manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

Storage Tips for Long Cover Life
  • Clean and dry your RV exterior before installing -- dirt and moisture trapped under the cover accelerate wear.
  • When removing the cover, fold rather than wad -- rolling prevents crease fatigue in the laminate layers.
  • Store the folded cover in the included bag away from direct sunlight and sharp objects.
  • Inspect buckle straps and elastic hems each season for cracking or loss of tension.

Important Information -- Read Before Ordering
  • This cover is sized for Class B van-based motorhomes ONLY. Do not use on Class A, Class C, travel trailers, or fifth wheels -- the fit geometry is incompatible.
  • Verify your RV's actual length, width, and height before purchase. Cover dimensions are 20.5 ft x 7.08 ft x 8.08 ft. An RV taller or wider than these dimensions will not fit correctly.
  • Do not install over a wet or dirty RV surface. Trapped moisture and abrasive grit accelerate fabric wear and can damage paint and clearcoat.
  • Not intended for use while the RV is in motion. This is a storage cover, not a transit cover.
  • In sustained high winds (storm conditions), inspect and re-tighten buckle straps. No fabric cover is a substitute for a dedicated RV shelter or carport in extreme weather.
  • The patch kit is for minor damage only. Large tears or delamination should be addressed with the lifetime warranty claim process through CarCover.
Protecting your RV with a quality cover is essential for maintaining its value and longevity. RVs are significant investments that are often exposed to harsh weather conditions, making them susceptible to damage from corrosion, mold, and UV rays. Unlike standard vehicles, RVs serve as mobile homes for many, and a cover can provide added insulation and privacy, enhancing your comfort while protecting against the elements. By investing in an RV cover, you reduce wear and tear, ensuring that your RV remains in excellent condition for years to come.

How To Measure Your RV:

Length: Measure the longest two points from the front to the rear of RV, including bumpers, spare tire, and ladder.

Height: Measure the highest point of the RV sidewalls from the top of the roof down to the outside frame, excluding ground clearance, roof-mounted accessories, vents, and A/C units. With Class B vans, be sure to include bubble height which is taken by measuring from the very top of the van to the natural roofline of the van.

How to Install Your RV Cover:

1. Identify the front of the cover by locating the "Front" tag on the interior.
2.
Lay the cover lengthwise on the ground, inside out, with the exterior facing up.
3.
Fold the sides toward the center and roll the cover from the rear, leaving the front end loose.
4.
Position the rolled cover at the rear of the RV near the ladder.
5.
Loosen the roll slightly, then climb the ladder while holding the front end.
6.
Pull the cover onto the roof gradually until you have a strip covering the entire roof.
7.
Starting at the front, unfold the cover side to side, letting it drape down the sides as you move to the rear.
8.
Ensure the corner opposite the ladder is positioned under the cover’s corner.
9.
Climb down while bringing the cover down with you, then adjust the cover as needed.

Removal:

1. Undo all straps and zippers on the cover.
2.
Lift the front of the cover to the top of the RV.
3.
Pull the cover down from the rear.

For Cleaning:

Proper care of your RV cover is essential for maintaining its performance and water resistance. Contaminants like dirt and grease can damage the cover, so regular washing is recommended for long-lasting protection.

You can wash the cover by hand or in a washing machine. For hand washing, install the cover on your RV, rinse it with a hose, then use a cloth and multi-purpose cleaner to scrub. Rinse again and either towel dry or let it air dry.

For machine washing, use the largest machine available, set it to gentle mode, and wash with mild powder detergent in cold water—avoid bleach and fabric softeners. Rinse the cover twice to remove all detergent, and always air dry.
