At 25 feet and 3/16 inch in diameter, this rod covers the length of most standard RV awnings and is trimmed to fit in minutes with a utility knife or PVC cutter.
Over time, the polyrod inside your awning fabric channel can become brittle, kinked, or broken -- especially after UV exposure or a rough season on the road. When that happens, the fabric loses its straight, taut profile and begins to droop between the roller tube and the lead rail. Replacing just the polyrod is a quick, inexpensive fix that extends the life of the fabric considerably.
The 041046-MP is made from UV-resistant polyethylene -- the same material Carefree uses in original-equipment awning assemblies -- so it flexes without cracking during deployment and retraction cycles. Unlike aluminum rods, polyethylene does not corrode, dent, or leave oxide stains on your fabric.

RV awning fabric is manufactured with a narrow sleeve -- the polyrod channel -- sewn along the bottom edge (and sometimes the top edge) of the fabric. A semi-rigid rod is threaded through this channel to hold the fabric flat and prevent it from bunching or flapping when the awning is extended. When the original rod breaks or deforms, the fabric loses its shape.
Replacing the polyrod does not require removing the awning from the rig. In most cases you can feed the new rod into the channel while the awning is partially rolled out. The old rod slides out, the new one slides in, and the awning is back in service the same day.
This polyrod is designed as a direct replacement for Carefree of Colorado awning assemblies that use a 3/16 in. polyrod channel. It is compatible with a wide range of Carefree fabric styles including Pioneer, Fiesta, and Latitude series awnings. Many generic and aftermarket awning fabrics using the same 3/16 in. channel are also compatible.
