The Cummins Onan 122-0836 is the OEM-specified spin-on oil filter for HGJAB and HGJAC generators across all fuel system types and spec letters, and for the HGJAA LP Liquid variant. It fits the RV QG 5500 and QG 7000 generator families — including Marquis Gold, Emerald Advantage, and Marquis Platinum series.
The filter features an integrated bypass valve that allows oil to flow during cold starts or if the element becomes restricted. Aftermarket "will-fit" filters frequently lack bypass valves — as they trap debris, oil pressure starvation can occur, leading to elevated pressures, failed gaskets, and engine damage.

The 122-0836 fits the HGJAA LP Liquid variant only. The HGJAA (Marquis Platinum) also comes in EFI and LP Vapor configurations — those use a different oil filter and are not compatible with this part. HGJAB and HGJAC owners across all fuel system types may order with confidence — this filter fits every variant of those two series.
Fleetguard is Cummins' own filtration brand. The LF16165 is not a third-party aftermarket substitute — it is a Cummins OEM product with identical specifications to the 122-0836. If you receive a Fleetguard LF16165 in place of the Onan-labeled 122-0836, this is a genuine direct substitute and will not affect your generator's performance or warranty.
