The Thetford 50149 is a basic waste valve used in RV toilet and holding tank drain systems — the slide valve that opens and closes to control flow between the toilet and the black water holding tank. Previously known as Thetford part number 08669, this is the same direct replacement under an updated part number.
The valve features a 3-1/2" ID socket (2" deep) on top for mounting to a 3" ID pipe, and a 3" spigot (3-1/2" OD, 1-3/8" long) outlet on the bottom that can be solvent-welded into a hub with a 3-1/2" ID. Molded from white ABS plastic with the operating handle included. If solvent welding to pipe or fittings, Thetford recommends black ABS pipe rather than white PVC for the best bond.

Thetford waste valves are molded with the same "01447" reference number regardless of configuration — the part number on the plastic doesn't tell you which specific valve you have. To confirm fitment, check the actual socket and spigot dimensions of your existing valve against this configuration: 3-1/2" ID socket on top, 3" spigot on bottom. If solvent welding into new pipe, use black ABS pipe — white PVC does not bond as reliably with ABS valve fittings.
