The thermistor continuously monitors the internal refrigerator temperature and sends that reading to the control board, which uses it to regulate when the cooling cycle activates and deactivates. A failed thermistor is one of the most common causes of temperature control problems in Norcold absorption refrigerators — symptoms include the fridge running warmer than the set point, cycling on and off erratically, or failing to maintain temperature as the outside ambient temperature changes.
