The Thetford 50010 is the Aqua-Magic Residence RV toilet in low-profile configuration — Thetford's premium lightweight permanent RV toilet, and the product of over 50 years of RV-specific toilet design. Previously known as Thetford part number 42170, this is the same toilet under an updated part number.
The Residence is built around three priorities that matter most in an RV: weight, comfort, and flush performance. At 8.25 lbs. for the low-profile version, it's among the lightest full-size RV toilets on the market — achieved through polymer composite construction bonded with welding technology rather than fasteners. The residential-sized seat is comfortable for everyday use, the cover is strong enough to sit on, and the proven RBall valve flush nozzle has been in service for over seven years providing superior bowl coverage and self-cleaning with every flush. A half-press of the foot pedal adds water; a full press flushes.

The Aqua-Magic Residence is available in two height configurations: Low Profile (50010/42170): 14" H, 8.25 lbs., overall seat-up height 28.8". Best for smaller bathroom spaces or where the high-profile version would feel too tall. High Profile (42171): Taller seat height of 18", 9.5 lbs., comparable to a residential toilet height. Easier sit-down and stand-up — particularly beneficial for taller users or those with mobility considerations. Measure your bathroom rough-in and ceiling clearance before selecting a profile height.
The Thetford 50010/42170 is a complete permanent RV toilet unit — not a seat, seat cover, or replacement component. It requires proper floor mounting and connection to the RV's fresh water and waste systems during installation.
