Commercial-grade forged steel ball mount â the strongest steel ball mount in the Flash lineup. Solid (not hollow) shank for maximum strength and towing capacity. 6" drop / 6" rise. Fits 2" receivers. Includes 2" and 2-5/16" chrome-plated balls. 12,000 lb GTW / 1,200 lb max tongue weight. Glossy powder-coat finish resists rust.
The Fastway Flash SSBM (Solid Steel Ball Mount) occupies a different spot in the towing market than the aluminum Flash Simple lineup â it's built for buyers who want maximum raw strength and commercial-grade durability in a steel ball mount, and who prefer the confidence of forged steel over aluminum for their heaviest or most demanding towing applications. The solid forged steel shank is the key distinction: where many steel ball mounts use a hollow shank to save weight, the SSBM's shank is solid through-and-through, giving it greater resistance to bending stress and a significantly stronger towing platform.
The 49-00-5600 is the 6" drop / 6" rise version for 2" receivers, rated for 12,000 lb GTW with a 1,200 lb max tongue weight â a meaningful step up from the Flash Simple aluminum line's 10,000 lb ceiling with the 2-5/16" ball. The glossy powder-coat finish resists rust in demanding outdoor environments, and both a 2" and 2-5/16" chrome-plated hitch ball are included. The SSBM is non-adjustable (fixed-height solid shank, not sliding pin-style), making it the go-to choice where maximum rigidity and strength take priority over tool-free height adjustment.
Not hollow â the SSBM's solid forged steel shank provides maximum bending resistance and unmatched strength vs. hollow steel mounts
Commercial-grade capacity rating â 2,000 lb more GTW than the aluminum Flash Simple 2" receiver models
Rust-resistant powder-coat finish holds up in demanding outdoor and commercial environments while keeping your truck looking sharp
Both 2" and 2-5/16" chrome-plated balls included â handles the full range of standard bumper-pull coupler sizes
Both the SSBM and Flash Simple are Fastway Flash ball mounts, but they serve different priorities: Choose the Flash SSBM (49-00-5600) if you need: âĸ Maximum raw strength â solid forged steel shank, not hollow âĸ Higher GTW rating â 12,000 lb vs. 10,000 lb on the 2" aluminum model âĸ Commercial or heavy-duty applications where steel is preferred âĸ A fixed, no-adjustment solid mount Choose the Flash Simple (42-99-2600) if you need: âĸ Tool-free, single-pin height adjustment â ideal when towing multiple trailers âĸ Lighter weight â the aluminum Flash Simple is roughly half the weight of steel âĸ A hand-polished mirror finish âĸ Stowable under the truck If you frequently switch between trailers with different coupler heights, the adjustable Flash Simple is the more versatile choice. If you tow one consistent setup and want the strongest possible steel mount, the SSBM is the right call.
The Flash SSBM 49-00-5600 is a ball mount â it connects your tow vehicle to your trailer and holds the hitch ball securely. It does not provide weight distribution or trailer sway control. For trailers where tongue weight causes rear sag on the tow vehicle, or where sway is a concern, a weight distribution hitch is the appropriate solution. Fastway offers the e2âĸ Weight Distribution Hitch series for these applications. Consult your tow vehicle's owner's manual for its maximum tongue weight capacity and whether a weight distribution hitch is required before towing.
Installation Steps: 1. Confirm Drop Size: Measure receiver height and coupler height to confirm 6" drop (or 6" rise when flipped) is correct for level towing 2. Select Ball: Choose the 2" or 2-5/16" ball that matches your trailer's coupler size 3. Insert into Receiver: Slide the solid steel shank into your 2" hitch receiver 4. Secure with Hitch Pin: Insert the receiver hitch pin and clip through the shank â a Fastway SSBM Dual Locking Pin Set is recommended for added security (sold separately) 5. Connect Trailer: Lower your trailer coupler onto the hitch ball and secure the coupler latch 6. Verify Level: Confirm the trailer is riding level before towing Never exceed the rated GTW or tongue weight for the ball mount, hitch ball, receiver hitch, or tow vehicle.
In The Package: âĸ (1) Flash SSBM Solid Steel Ball Mount â 6" Drop / 6" Rise, 2" Receiver âĸ (1) 2" Chrome-Plated Hitch Ball âĸ (1) 2-5/16" Chrome-Plated Hitch Ball Sold Separately â Recommended: âĸ Fastway SSBM Dual Locking Pin Set â locking hitch pins specifically designed for the SSBM
