Flow-Rite BA-MS-650 -- Mini Pump Assembly with 5 Ft Tubing

A compact, light-duty pump solution for watering flooded lead-acid battery banks with 24 cells or fewer. The BA-MS-650 delivers consistent, controlled water flow to each cell without overfilling, keeping your RV or golf cart battery bank properly maintained and extending battery life.

Clean, Controlled Battery Watering -- Without the Mess

Manually topping off flooded lead-acid batteries with a jug or squeeze bottle is slow, messy, and easy to get wrong. Overfilling accelerates corrosion; underfilling shortens battery life. The Flow-Rite BA-MS-650 takes the guesswork out of the process with a submersible pump and a built-in flow indicator that gives you a visible confirmation that water is actually reaching each cell.

At 5 feet of tubing, the BA-MS-650 is sized for smaller battery banks -- think a single 6V or 12V bank in an RV, a small golf cart pack, or a marine house bank. If your system runs more than 24 cells total, step up to Flow-Rite's full-size pump assemblies.

Submersible Pump Included

Drop into any standard water jug or container. No priming needed -- just submerge and pump.

Built-In Flow Indicator

Visual confirmation that water is moving through the line, so you know every cell is getting serviced.

5 Ft Tubing Included

Pre-attached tubing gives you enough reach to work a compact battery bank without extensions.

Light-Duty System -- 24 Cells Max

Right-sized for small RV, marine, or golf cart battery banks. Not designed for large multi-battery arrays.

What Is Battery Watering -- and Why Does It Matter?

Flooded lead-acid batteries -- including most golf cart batteries, many RV house bank batteries, and marine deep-cycle batteries -- consume distilled water during normal charge and discharge cycles. As electrolyte levels drop, the plates are exposed, which causes sulfation and permanent capacity loss. Regular watering (typically every 2-4 weeks under heavy use, or monthly for lighter use) is one of the most impactful things you can do to extend battery service life.

The Flow-Rite system replaces the fill caps on each cell with quick-connect valves. The pump assembly attaches to those valves and delivers a precise amount of distilled water to each cell -- stopping automatically when the cell reaches the correct level (when used with compatible Flow-Rite battery caps). The BA-MS-650 handles the pump and delivery side of that system.

Key Benefits for RV and Off-Grid Battery Banks

  • Reduces watering time from several minutes per battery to under a minute for the whole bank
  • Eliminates overfilling that can cause acid spills and terminal corrosion
  • Flow indicator confirms water is moving -- no guessing whether a cell is getting serviced
  • Works with distilled water containers of various sizes -- no proprietary jugs required
  • Compact size stores easily in an RV basement compartment or battery bay

Compatible Battery Types and System Sizing

The BA-MS-650 is designed for use with flooded lead-acid batteries only. This includes:

  • 6V flooded golf cart batteries (2 cells each)
  • 12V flooded deep-cycle batteries (6 cells each)
  • 8V flooded batteries (4 cells each)

At a 24-cell maximum, this pump is well suited for a 12V bank of four 6V batteries (8 cells), a 24V bank of four 6V batteries (8 cells), or a 12V bank of four 12V batteries (24 cells). For larger arrays -- a six-battery golf cart pack or an expanded RV house bank -- Flow-Rite offers higher-capacity pump assemblies in the BA-MS and BA-ES series.

Flow-Rite Battery Watering System -- How It Works Together

The BA-MS-650 pump assembly is the hand-operated delivery component of the Flow-Rite battery watering ecosystem. For automatic shutoff at correct electrolyte level, the battery cells must also be equipped with Flow-Rite QDV (quick-disconnect valve) battery caps and a manifold or individual cell valves. If your batteries are not yet fitted with Flow-Rite caps, the pump assembly alone will not provide automatic level control -- you will need the complete cell cap kit for your specific battery type as well.

Distilled Water Only

Always use distilled water when watering flooded lead-acid batteries. Tap water contains minerals that contaminate the electrolyte and permanently reduce battery capacity. The BA-MS-650 pump and tubing are not affected by distilled water, but using any other liquid will void the battery warranty and damage the cells.

Maintenance Tips for Longer Battery Life

  • Water batteries after a full charge cycle, not before -- charging causes the electrolyte to expand, and pre-watering can cause overflow
  • Check electrolyte levels monthly under normal use; increase to every 2 weeks in hot climates or heavy cycling applications
  • Inspect tubing and pump for cracks or blockages at each use
  • Rinse tubing with distilled water after use and store dry to prevent mineral deposits
  • Keep batteries in a ventilated compartment -- flooded cells off-gas hydrogen during charging

Important Information -- Read Before Use

  • The BA-MS-650 is rated for a maximum of 24 battery cells. Exceeding this limit strains the pump and may result in incomplete watering of cells near the end of the line.
  • This pump assembly does NOT include battery caps, cell valves, or manifold connectors. Compatible Flow-Rite QDV caps must be installed on each battery cell before the pump can deliver water with automatic level shutoff.
  • Use distilled water ONLY. Tap water or mineral water will contaminate battery electrolyte and cause permanent capacity loss.
  • Do NOT use on AGM, gel, sealed, or lithium battery types. These batteries do not have fillable cells and can be damaged by any attempt to add water.
  • Always water batteries after a complete charge cycle, not before or during charging.
  • Inspect tubing before each use. Cracked or kinked tubing can restrict flow and result in uneven cell watering.
  • Flooded batteries emit hydrogen gas during charging -- ensure the battery compartment is adequately ventilated. Do not expose pump, tubing, or water container to open flame or sparks near the battery area.
