Heavy-duty universal-style trailer coupler lock designed to secure many standard couplers for 1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16" hitch balls while the trailer is parked or stored.
The InfiniteRule 61118-BX trailer coupler lock is designed to help protect an unattended trailer by blocking access to the coupler ball socket. Unlike a small latch pin lock, this style of lock surrounds the coupler area and uses a mounting ball-style insert to help prevent a trailer from being hitched to an unauthorized tow vehicle.
This lock is intended for many standard trailer couplers that accept 1-7/8", 2", or 2-5/16" hitch balls. It is commonly listed for thumb-latch, trigger-latch, yoke-latch, and sleeve-lock coupler styles, but coupler shape and clearance still need to be verified before ordering.
Helps prevent a parked trailer from being coupled to a hitch ball
Designed for many 1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16" ball couplers
Powder-coated steel body with stainless locking pin and aluminum mounting ball
Useful for RV, utility, cargo, boat, equipment, and storage trailers
InfiniteRule 61118-BX is a trailer coupler lock for many standard couplers using 1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16" hitch ball sizes. It is not a receiver hitch lock, small coupler latch pin lock, trailer door lock, or compartment lock. Verify the coupler ball size, latch style, coupler width, coupler shape, bottom clearance, latch handle clearance, and lock body fit before ordering. “Universal” coupler locks can still be limited by unusual coupler castings, low-clearance frames, safety chain brackets, or specialty coupler designs.
Before Starting: Park the trailer on level ground, chock the wheels, and confirm the coupler is clean, closed, and compatible with this coupler lock. Make sure the trailer is uncoupled from the tow vehicle before installing a coupler lock. Basic Use Steps: 1. Confirm Coupler Size: Verify the trailer coupler is for a compatible 1-7/8", 2", or 2-5/16" hitch ball. 2. Inspect Coupler: Check the latch, ball socket, coupler casting, and surrounding trailer tongue area for damage or obstructions. 3. Position Lock: Place the mounting ball/lock assembly into the coupler socket according to InfiniteRule instructions. 4. Adjust Fit: Position the coupler lock so it captures the coupler securely without forcing the latch or contacting unsupported areas. 5. Install Locking Pin: Secure the lock assembly with the supplied locking pin and lock body. 6. Lock and Check: Turn the key to secure the lock, then gently check that the lock cannot be removed and the coupler cannot be coupled to a hitch ball. 7. Install Dust Cover: Seat the dust cover to help keep dirt and moisture out of the lock cylinder. 8. Store Keys Safely: Keep spare keys in a safe location and record the key number if provided.

To confirm compatibility before ordering, have the following ready: • Trailer coupler ball size: 1-7/8", 2", or 2-5/16" • Coupler latch style: thumb, trigger, yoke, sleeve-lock, or other • Photos of the coupler from the side, front, top, and underside • Coupler width, height, and bottom clearance • Clearance around safety chain brackets, jack mounts, frame plates, and latch hardware • Whether the trailer is an RV, cargo, utility, boat, equipment, or specialty trailer • Whether you need a coupler lock, latch pin lock, receiver lock, or door/compartment lock Why this matters: Coupler locks are shape-sensitive. Ball size alone does not guarantee fit if the coupler body, latch, frame, or nearby hardware interferes with the lock.
Match this lock by coupler ball size, latch style, coupler shape, body clearance, frame clearance, and storage/security needs. Do not select by ball size alone.
If fitment or locking issues continue, check coupler ball size, latch style, coupler body shape, clearance around the trailer tongue, lock adjustment, key operation, and whether a different InfiniteRule lock model is required.
This coupler lock is a theft-deterrent device for parked/unhitched trailers and must be removed before towing. It does not replace proper trailer coupling, safety chains, breakaway cable, wheel chocks, parking brakes, or other required towing safety equipment. Always confirm the coupler, hitch ball, receiver, trailer, and towing vehicle are properly rated and securely connected before travel.
