Lippert 10" x 2.25" Drum Brake Complete Kit Lippert 10 x 2.25 Inch Trailer Brake Replacement Shoe and Lining Kit

Restore confident, even stopping power to your trailer or RV with this factory-matched Lippert brake shoe and lining kit. Designed specifically for 10-inch by 2.25-inch drum brake assemblies, this kit ships with everything you need to complete a full shoe replacement -- both the primary and secondary shoes, plus all the small hardware pieces that get damaged or fatigued during removal. No sourcing parts separately; pull the drums and finish the job in one session.

Complete Brake Shoe Service in One Box

Worn or glazed brake linings are one of the leading causes of soft, inconsistent stopping on towed trailers and fifth-wheel RVs. Lippert's replacement shoe and lining kit uses the same materials and geometry as the original equipment shoes, so brake adjustment, self-adjusting hardware, and drum clearance all behave exactly as designed after installation.

The 10 x 2.25 inch size is one of the most common drum brake configurations found on Lippert-equipped RV axles, single- and tandem-axle travel trailers, toy haulers, and fifth wheels in the 3,500 to 7,000 lb. gross axle weight range. If your trailer originally shipped with Lippert or Dexter-style 10-inch brakes, this kit is your direct replacement.

Primary and Secondary Shoes Included

Both shoes in the axle's drum brake assembly are replaced at once, ensuring matched lining thickness and even braking force side to side.

Complete Hardware Pack

Hold-down pins, hold-down cups, and hold-down springs are all included so worn or bent hardware is replaced at the same time as the shoes.

OE-Matched Geometry

Shoes are formed to the same arc radius as the original Lippert drum brake assembly, so they seat correctly without custom fitting or shimming.

One Kit Per Wheel

Each kit services a single wheel end. Order two kits per axle to complete a full axle service, or four kits for a tandem-axle trailer.

What Is and Is Not Included

Included in this kit:
  • 1x Primary brake shoe with bonded lining
  • 1x Secondary brake shoe with bonded lining
  • Hold-down pins
  • Hold-down cups
  • Hold-down springs
Not included -- source separately if needed:
  • Brake drums (inspect existing drums for scoring or out-of-round before reusing)
  • Return springs (adjuster and anchor) -- inspect and replace if stretched or fatigued
  • Self-adjuster assembly
  • Wheel cylinders
  • Brake magnets (electric brake actuator)

Fitment and Compatibility

This shoe and lining kit is sized for 10-inch drum diameter, 2.25-inch shoe width brake assemblies. This is the standard configuration on a wide range of Lippert and Dexter-sourced electric drum brake axles commonly found on:

  • Travel trailers and fifth wheels with 3,500 lb. and 5,200 lb. rated Lippert axles
  • Toy haulers and cargo trailers equipped with Lippert electric drum brakes
  • Tandem-axle rigs where all four wheel ends use the same 10 x 2.25 in. drum size
Confirm your drum size before ordering. Measure your existing drum's inner diameter (10 inches) and shoe width (2.25 inches), or check your axle tag for the brake size designation. Lippert also uses 12 x 2 inch brakes on heavier axles -- those require a different shoe kit.

When to Replace Brake Shoes

Maintenance Tips:
  • Inspect shoe lining thickness annually or every 12,000 miles of towing -- replace when lining approaches 1/16 inch or less.
  • Replace shoes in axle sets (both wheels on the same axle) to maintain balanced braking.
  • Inspect drums for heat cracks, deep scoring, or out-of-round -- a resurfaced or replaced drum improves new shoe break-in and longevity.
  • Check and clean the brake magnet and armature surface when shoes are out -- a worn magnet causes poor electric brake engagement regardless of shoe condition.
  • Re-adjust brakes after the first 200 miles following new shoe installation to account for initial lining wear-in.

Important Information -- Read Before Installing
  • This kit services ONE wheel end only. Always replace shoes in matched pairs on the same axle to prevent uneven braking and trailer sway.
  • Verify your drum inner diameter is 10 inches and shoe width is 2.25 inches before installation. Installing incorrect shoes can result in brake failure.
  • Inspect and measure brake drums before reuse. Drums worn beyond the maximum diameter stamped on the drum must be replaced, not reused with new shoes.
  • Electric trailer brakes require a compatible brake controller in the tow vehicle. This kit does not include or replace the brake magnet or controller.
  • Do not allow brake lining contact with grease or brake fluid. Contaminated linings must be replaced, not cleaned.
  • Trailer brake service should be performed by a qualified technician if you are unfamiliar with drum brake systems. Improper installation can cause brake failure and loss of vehicle control.
