Lippert Part 103480 1-Year WarrantyLippert 103480 RV Slide-Out Plastic Wear Tab

The standard OEM-replacement wear tab for virtually every Lippert slide-out system on the market -- electric, hydraulic, manual, motorized inboard and outboard, and electric stabilizer jacks. One tab, sold individually, black plastic.

Protect Your Slide Tubes and Frame With the Right Wear Tab

Wear tabs are the unsung heroes of a properly functioning RV slide-out. These small sacrificial plastic components ride between the slide-out tube and the surrounding frame channel, absorbing friction every time your room extends or retracts. Without them -- or with worn-out cracked ones -- you get direct metal-on-metal contact that scores the tubes, damages the frame, and can let the room rack or bind under load.

The Lippert 103480 is the factory-standard wear tab spec'd across the full range of Lippert slide systems. Whether your rig runs an inboard electric motor, a hydraulic ram, a manual crank, or a motorized through-frame rack-and-pinion system, this is the part Lippert builds to spec. Replacing worn tabs before they fail completely is straightforward DIY maintenance that takes minutes and saves expensive tube or frame repairs down the road.

Universal Lippert Fit

Fits all Lippert inboard and outboard electric, hydraulic, manual, and motorized slide-out systems, plus electric stabilizer jacks.

Sacrificial Protection

Designed to wear in place of steel tubes and frame channels -- replace the tab, not the expensive hardware underneath.

OEM Specification

Genuine Lippert part number 103480. The same tab installed at the factory on millions of production RVs.

Easy DIY Install

Snap-in or bolt-in replacement depending on slide type. No special tools required for most applications.

What Are Wear Tabs and Why Do They Fail?

Slide-out wear tabs are made from a low-friction plastic compound (typically a nylon or UHMW-type material) that is intentionally softer than the steel slide tubes and frame. As the room cycles in and out over hundreds or thousands of trips, the tab gradually wears down. Exposure to road grime, lack of lubrication, UV, and temperature cycling all accelerate wear.

Signs a wear tab needs replacement:

  • Slide-out grinds, squeaks, or feels rough during travel
  • Visible scoring or gouging on slide tube exterior
  • Tab is cracked, missing chunks, or worn to less than half its original thickness
  • Slide room sags, rocks side to side, or binds at mid-travel
  • Inspection reveals a tab broken into pieces inside the channel

Preventive Maintenance Tip

Lippert recommends inspecting wear tabs at least once per season and any time you hear unusual noise during slide travel. Catching a worn tab early -- before it breaks apart inside the channel -- prevents tube scoring and frame damage that costs far more to repair than a replacement tab.

Compatibility Across Lippert Slide Systems

The 103480 wear tab is spec'd for use across the following Lippert slide-out and stabilizer product families:

  • Inboard electric slide-out systems
  • Outboard electric slide-out systems
  • Hydraulic slide-out systems (single and dual ram)
  • Manual (hand-crank) slide-out systems
  • Motorized through-frame slide-out systems
  • Electric stabilizer jack systems

Fitment Note

Confirm your slide system is manufactured by Lippert (formerly Lippert Components / LCI). Many Forest River, Coachmen, Keystone, and other brand RVs use Lippert slide systems. Check the slide mechanism or frame rail for a Lippert or LCI stamp or data tag to verify before ordering.

Installation Overview

Installation varies slightly by slide system type but generally involves:

  • Fully retracting the slide room to expose the tube and wear tab positions
  • Removing the retaining screw or clip holding the old tab in the channel bracket
  • Sliding or snapping the old tab out of its channel
  • Pressing the new 103480 tab into place and securing with the original fastener
  • Applying a light coat of slide-out lubricant to the tab surface before cycling the room

Maintenance Reminder

After installing new wear tabs, apply a Lippert-approved slide-out lube or a dry PTFE lubricant to the tab contact surfaces. Never use petroleum-based grease on slide tube wear surfaces -- it attracts grit and accelerates wear. Cycle the room two or three times after installation to seat the new tab before a road trip.

Related Parts to Check

While you have the slide extended for tab inspection, also check the slide-out rubber wiper seals, the room fascia seal, and the slide tube for any scoring or rust. Worn seals and scored tubes are common co-failures with a worn wear tab.

Important Information

  • Sold individually -- order the quantity equal to the number of worn tabs your slide system requires. Most slides use multiple tabs per room.
  • Verify your slide system is a genuine Lippert / LCI product before ordering. This part is not designed for Schwintek in-wall slides or HappiJac systems.
  • Never operate a slide-out with missing or broken wear tabs. Direct tube-to-frame contact will score the tubes and may jam the room in an extended position.
  • Always support the slide room adequately before reaching under or behind the mechanism during inspection or tab replacement.
  • Do not use petroleum-based grease on wear tab surfaces -- use a dry PTFE or Lippert-approved slide lube only.
  • If the slide tube shows deep scoring or the frame channel is deformed, replacing the wear tab alone may not fully resolve binding -- inspect the tube and channel for damage before reassembling.
