Lippert Suspension Hardware Zerk Included Lippert 126238 Wet Shoulder Shackle Bolt for Lippert Trailer Axles

Keep your trailer's leaf spring suspension properly pinned and lubricated with this OEM-spec replacement wet shoulder shackle bolt from Lippert. Designed specifically for Lippert axle assemblies, this bolt features a precision-ground shoulder, correct 7/16-20 thread, and comes with a Zerk grease fitting so you can maintain the joint without disassembly -- a critical detail that cheap generic bolts often skip.

The Right Bolt for Lippert Axle Suspension

Shackle bolts are a wear item. Every mile your trailer travels, the shackle bolt pivots under load as the leaf springs flex. A worn or improperly sized bolt creates slop in the suspension, accelerates bushing wear, and can eventually lead to shackle failure on the road. Replacing with the correct Lippert-spec bolt -- not a hardware-store approximation -- ensures the shoulder seats flush in the shackle eyes and that the thread engages the nut correctly.

The "wet" designation means this bolt is engineered to be greased through its integrated Zerk fitting. Regular greasing through the Zerk extends bushing and bolt life significantly compared to dry-pin designs. If your current bolt lacks a Zerk, upgrading to this wet-shoulder design is a meaningful maintenance improvement.

Zerk Grease Fitting Included

Grease the pivot point without removing the bolt. Prolongs bushing and shackle life on any terrain.

Precision Shoulder Dimensions

2.325" shoulder length and 9/16" body diameter match OEM Lippert axle shackle clearances exactly.

Correct Fine Thread

7/16-20 fine thread engages the Lippert shackle nut securely and resists vibration loosening.

Cross-Brand OEM Fitment

Listed as a direct replacement by Forest River, Grand Design, and Keystone -- not just a generic fit claim.

What "Wet Shoulder" Means -- and Why It Matters

A standard shackle bolt is a smooth-shouldered pin with no provision for lubrication. Once installed, the bolt relies on whatever grease was applied at assembly and gradually runs dry as bushings wear. A wet shoulder bolt adds a Zerk fitting (also called a grease nipple or grease zerk) that channels lubricant through the bolt body to the bearing surface. This allows you to regrease the joint at every service interval without pulling the bolt -- a significant time and longevity advantage for a part that sees continuous load cycling.

Maintenance Tip: Grease this bolt through the Zerk at every oil change or every 3,000-5,000 miles of towing, whichever comes first. Use a quality chassis grease. Proper lubrication is the single biggest factor in shackle bolt and bushing longevity.

OEM Cross-Reference Part Numbers

This Lippert bolt is sold under multiple OEM part numbers by the major RV manufacturers whose coaches use Lippert axle systems. If you're ordering a replacement through your dealer's parts department or sourcing from a manufacturer's parts list, any of the following numbers cross to Lippert 126238:

  • Forest River Part Number: 110-L
  • Grand Design Part Number: 120023
  • Keystone RV Part Number: 453163
  • Lippert Part Number: 126238
  • Vendor/Distributor Part Number: 71-3824
Fitment Note: This bolt is designed for Lippert axle assemblies that use a wet-shoulder shackle configuration. Verify your existing bolt has a 9/16" body and 7/16-20 thread before ordering. If your trailer uses a different body diameter or thread pitch, this bolt will not be a direct fit.

When to Replace Your Shackle Bolt

Inspect shackle bolts at every seasonal inspection or any time you notice handling changes, unusual tire wear, or clunking from the suspension. Replace when you find:

  • Visible scoring, galling, or corrosion on the shoulder
  • Lateral play or wobble in the shackle when checked by hand
  • A seized or missing Zerk fitting that prevents lubrication
  • Thread damage that prevents the nut from seating flush
  • Any crack or deformation in the bolt body
Installation Reminder: When replacing shackle bolts, always replace the nut and any worn bushings at the same time. Reusing a stretched nut on a new bolt compromises clamping force and can allow the bolt to back out under vibration. Torque to Lippert's specification for your axle series.

Important Information
  • Verify your existing bolt measures 9/16" body diameter and uses 7/16-20 thread before ordering -- do not assume fitment based on trailer brand alone.
  • The nut is NOT included. If your existing nut shows thread wear, order a replacement nut at the same time.
  • Bushings are NOT included. Always inspect shackle bushings when replacing the bolt; worn bushings will accelerate wear on the new hardware.
  • Do not substitute a standard (dry) shackle bolt in a wet-shoulder application -- the Zerk port in the shackle eye will be blocked and the joint cannot be lubricated.
  • Torque the shackle nut to Lippert's published specification for your specific axle series. Under- or over-torquing affects bushing preload and bolt retention.
  • This is a safety-critical suspension component. If you are unsure of condition or fitment, have a qualified RV service technician perform the inspection and replacement.
