Lippert OEM Replacement Double-Eye Leaf Spring Lippert 133207 Standard Trailer Shackle Link -- 3-1/8" Center-to-Center

Genuine Lippert replacement shackle link for compatible double-eye leaf spring trailer suspension systems. Engineered to OEM dimensions so it drops in without modification. If your current shackle is bent, cracked, or worn at the bolt holes, this is the part you need.

The Right Link for Leaf Spring Suspension Repair

Shackle links are a critical but often overlooked component of trailer suspension. They connect the rear eye of the leaf spring to the fixed rear hanger bracket, allowing the spring to flex and extend under load. A worn or damaged shackle link causes sloppy handling, uneven tire wear, and in severe cases, spring separation from the frame -- a road hazard on any tow.

The Lippert 133207 is a direct OEM-style replacement built to the same 3-1/8" center-to-center specification as the original. At 0.224" thick steel, it matches the structural geometry Lippert engineers into their axle and hanger systems. This is not a universal aftermarket approximation -- it is the correct replacement for compatible Lippert-equipped trailers.

OEM Center-to-Center

3-1/8" bolt-hole spacing matches original Lippert hanger geometry for drop-in fit.

Steel Construction

0.224" thick stamped steel provides strength and durability under repeated suspension cycling.

Double-Eye Compatibility

Designed for double-eye (multi-leaf) spring setups common on single and tandem axle trailers.

Genuine Lippert Part

Sourced directly from Lippert -- same part that ships on new trailers from the factory.

What Is a Shackle Link and Why Does It Matter?

In a leaf spring suspension system, the spring is anchored at the front to a fixed hanger pin and at the rear to a moveable shackle. The shackle link is the two-hole plate (or set of plates) that forms that rear pivot. As the spring compresses and rebounds, the shackle pivots to accommodate the change in spring arc length.

Because the shackle link is always in motion and carries a portion of the trailer's gross weight, the bolt holes elongate over time and the steel fatigues. Inspecting shackle links at every pre-trip check is a standard part of responsible trailer maintenance. Replace them in pairs (both sides of the axle) for balanced suspension geometry.

Correct Installation Matters

  • Always use grade-appropriate hardware rated for your trailer's GVWR when reinstalling shackle links.
  • Torque shackle bolts to your frame manufacturer's specification -- do not over-tighten, which can bind the pivot and accelerate wear.
  • Inspect the mating hanger bracket and equalizer for cracks or elongated holes before installing new links.
  • Apply a corrosion-resistant grease or anti-seize to bolt shanks to prevent galvanic binding between dissimilar metals.

Single vs. Tandem Axle Applications

On a single-axle trailer, shackle links mount at both the front and rear hangers. On a tandem-axle trailer with an equalizer, shackle links typically appear only at the front and rear fixed hangers -- the center pivot uses an equalizer arm. Verify your hanger layout before ordering to confirm you need a shackle link versus an equalizer bracket.

Maintenance Tips

  • Check shackle links visually before each tow -- look for cracks near the bolt holes and any visible bend or twist in the link body.
  • Replace in pairs (left and right on the same axle end) to maintain even suspension geometry.
  • If the link spins freely on the bolt rather than pivoting against the hanger, the bushing or bolt hole has worn oversize -- replace immediately.
  • After any hard impact or pothole event, inspect links even if no visible damage is apparent.

What Is NOT Included

This listing is for the shackle link plate only. Shackle bolts, nuts, washers, and cotter pins are NOT included. U-bolts, hanger brackets, leaf springs, and equalizers are sold separately. Verify your existing center-to-center bolt spacing before ordering.

Important Information

  • Verify the center-to-center bolt spacing on your existing shackle link is 3-1/8" before ordering -- using an incorrectly sized link can cause improper spring alignment and suspension failure.
  • Replace shackle links in pairs (both sides of the same axle end) to prevent uneven suspension loading.
  • Never tow with a cracked, bent, or hole-elongated shackle link -- suspension separation can cause the trailer to drop onto the road surface.
  • Hardware (bolts, nuts, washers) is NOT included. Use hardware rated for your trailer's GVWR and torque to specification.
  • Inspect all adjacent suspension components -- hanger brackets, equalizer, leaf springs, and U-bolts -- before returning the trailer to service.
