What Is a Hydraulic Cartridge Valve?

Each valve controls the direction, pressure, or flow of hydraulic fluid to a specific function -- in this case, the extension and retraction of one slide-out room. Because they are sealed against the manifold bore by precision threads and O-ring seals, they must be rated to withstand the full system pressure without weeping or bypass leakage.

The Hydac cartridge in this assembly is a solenoid-operated directional control valve.
