Lippert / Power Gear Part 359269 2.0 Gallon Reservoir Lippert 359269 Horizontal Hydraulic Leveling Pump for Power Gear Systems

This is the OEM-matched hydraulic power unit for Power Gear leveling systems designed around horizontally mounted, spring-return jack assemblies. If your rig uses a horizontal pump layout and your existing unit is leaking, running weak, or failing to hold pressure, 359269 is the direct drop-in replacement -- no repiping, no bracket fabrication.

Direct-Fit Replacement for Power Gear Horizontal Leveling Systems

Lippert Components (formerly Power Gear) produced horizontal hydraulic pump assemblies for a wide range of Class A motorhomes, fifth wheels, and travel trailers equipped with their automatic leveling systems. The 359269 unit mounts horizontally -- meaning the motor and pump sit parallel to the chassis rail rather than upright -- and is paired specifically with spring-return jack assemblies that retract automatically when hydraulic pressure is released.

Unlike generic aftermarket pumps, this unit ships with the correct port configuration, pressure-relief valve calibration, and reservoir capacity to work within the Power Gear system's solenoid valve block without modification. That matters at 2 AM in a campground when you need your slides in and your jacks up.

2.0 Gallon Reservoir

Correct fluid capacity for multi-jack Power Gear systems. Prevents cavitation under full extension cycles.

Horizontal Mount Design

Motor axis runs parallel to mounting surface -- matches chassis compartments built for horizontal pump layouts.

Spring-Return Compatible

Calibrated pressure relief for systems where jacks retract via internal spring, not hydraulic reverse flow.

OEM Lippert / Power Gear

Manufactured to original Power Gear specifications. Matches original port locations and solenoid block interface.

What "Horizontal" Means for Your Installation

Power Gear produced two primary pump orientations: vertical (upright, often mounted in a bay floor area) and horizontal (motor lying on its side, often tucked against a frame rail or in a shallow compartment). Using the wrong orientation is not just a fitment issue -- it affects the reservoir's internal pickup tube position. Running a vertical-spec pump on its side will starve the pump of fluid. The 359269 is designed and plumbed for horizontal installation only.

Before ordering, verify your existing pump lies flat with the motor shaft horizontal. If your current pump stands upright, you need a vertical-mount variant instead.

Why Replace the Full Pump Assembly?

  • Internal pump wear or scored gear sets cause slow extension and poor pressure hold.
  • Motor brush failure or seized bearings prevent the pump from running at all.
  • Reservoir cracks or fitting corrosion cause chronic fluid loss that can't be sealed permanently.
  • Replacing the complete assembly restores all these components at once and is typically faster than sourcing individual rebuild parts for an older Power Gear unit.

Fluid Compatibility and Maintenance

Power Gear leveling systems are designed to run on automatic transmission fluid (ATF Dexron III / Mercon) or a dedicated hydraulic leveling fluid. Do not use standard hydraulic jack oil -- it does not contain the correct seal swell agents and can damage internal O-rings over time. When installing the 359269, drain and flush residual fluid from the lines before filling the new reservoir to avoid contaminating the fresh unit with degraded fluid.

Check Before You Install

  • Confirm your system uses spring-return jacks (jacks retract when power is cut, no "retract" solenoid required). If your system has a dedicated retract circuit, this pump configuration may not match.
  • Verify 12V DC power wire gauge at the pump. Undersized wiring causes voltage drop and motor burnout on the new unit -- use a minimum 8 AWG run for most Power Gear systems.
  • Inspect all hydraulic fittings and hoses before startup. A weak hose that held on the old low-pressure pump may fail when a new pump restores full system pressure.

Maintenance Tips

  • Check fluid level every 6 months or after any extended leveling session in hot weather.
  • Cycle all jacks to full extension and full retraction after installation to purge air from the lines.
  • Keep the reservoir vent cap clean -- a clogged vent creates back-pressure that stresses pump seals.
  • Inspect motor connections for corrosion annually, especially in high-humidity or coastal environments.

Not Sure This Is Your Part?

Check the label on your existing pump -- Power Gear part numbers are typically printed on a foil sticker on the reservoir or motor housing. If your label is missing, note whether your pump is horizontal or vertical, count the hydraulic ports on the manifold, and measure your reservoir capacity. The 359269 has a 2.0-gallon reservoir and a horizontal motor orientation. Those two details will confirm or rule out this part for your system.

Important Information -- Read Before Installing

  • This pump is for horizontal mounting only. Installing it in a vertical orientation will cause fluid starvation and immediate pump damage.
  • Designed for spring-return jack systems. Do not use on Power Gear systems that require hydraulic pressure to both extend AND retract jacks -- the port and valve configuration will not match.
  • Always use the correct fluid type (ATF Dexron III/Mercon). Incorrect fluid will degrade seals and void any warranty.
  • Disconnect 12V power from the pump before any installation work. Hydraulic systems can actuate jacks unexpectedly if power is live.
  • This listing is for the pump/power unit only. Jacks, hoses, fittings, solenoid valves, and control panels are sold separately.
  • Confirm your part number against the label on your existing unit before ordering. Power Gear produced multiple pump variants; orientation and reservoir size must match your system.
